I'm on Lantus only as a basal and love it

Artificial Sweeteners Linked To Higher Blood Sugar Levels - Villages-news.com

Different types of sweetener can still affect Bg quite radically, stevia is supposed to be the one to use as it is supposed to have less effect. Sad to say it still affects me so I don't have anything now with artificial contents.

    Hba1c Increasing

Yes, I have. I couldn't manage Metformin either and I was put on Glicazide and sitagliptin, and referred to the community team for insulin. I was taken off sitagliptin as it was contraindicated. So I ended up with 1 X Forxiga, 4 X Glicazide and insulin once daily. I then went low carb and...

    Attention All Oppo Lovers

You can easily make crackers if you want which are crisp and ideal for cheese and dips. They are on the "I breathe I'm hungry" website and are made from 1 X cup milled flaxseed, 1/2 cup grated Parmesan, 2 eggs and some flavouring. You might wait quite a while for Oppo to develop these!

    Flaxseed Drink

If you mean the milled flax, I put it on my yoghurt in the mornings - nice slightly nutty flavour. Put some in casseroles. Make savoury biscuits.

    Favourite Yoghurts

Lidl's do a fab Turkish yoghurt - even creamier than the Greek. I have it with milled flax which has a slightly nutty flavour and a few raspberries. Such a good price too. If you are missing your hazelnuts you could liquidise them and add them to your yoghurt x

What To Do If You Miss A Dose Of Background (24h) Insulin.

This happened to me and my DN advised that up to 12 hours late, halve the dose or have a full dose and change my dose timing. Over 12 hours just miss completely and that it is nothing to worry about. I'm on Lantus too.

    Long-haul Flying

I've got to, one carries 2, the other 4-6 depending how much it is plumped up. If you go on the Frio website it tells you. Also their customer sales staff are happy to help

Type 2 but been recommended Insulin...

Hi MalcolmB I have felt so much better since going on to insulin too. I was on 18 units Lantus (basal) plus 1 X Forxiga and 4 X Glicazide daily. Since going low carb I have been able to drop all the Glicazide, which I did gradually, one by one and am still averaging 5.8. I can't tolerate...

    How Do You Do Lc?

I have a similar history to you, but with no eating disorder, just gluttony! I have been low carbing for about 5 months now with good results. I basically cut out bread, rice, pasta, grains, pulses, pastry, potatoes and other root veg. Only berries and not too many and definitely no sugar or...

    Diabetic Craft Club

Good. I just need to make a 1 cm reduction on each shoulder, but that is all, so I am pleased. But as I am hoping to lose weight I shall have to do this again if (I should say when) I do. Doing another day on darts and sleeves in a fortnight, so looking forward to that. The one I really want...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Bit late, but happily back to 5.5. Fingers crossed I can start reducing my insulin soon.

    Diabetic Craft Club

I did a pattern making course (part one) today. It was good but, OMG, you need to concentrate! Have made my first toile and it only needs a little bit of adjustment. Please, someone out there, tell me it gets easier if you do it a few times!

What to have with curry instead of rice

We had a Thai red curry and used very finely shredded white cabbage. Worked well.

    Newly Diagnosed

Just cut down on carbs, perhaps cut out bread, pasta, cereals, potatoes etc and you will see an amazing difference and will surely get you into the non diabetic range. Good luck.

    Travelling with insulin

I went to NZ via a few hot places earlier this year and my DN recommend Frio for carrying my insulin. Not cheap but really excellent and takes away lol concerns about it getting too warm. It will keep the pens cool for upto 48 hours and is reusable. Worth it for the peace of mind. I put...

Why is this happening - anyone know?

No nothing different except I had a night off for our 40th WA and had a tasting menu and a couple of glasses of wine and it just seems to have shoved everything off kilter since. It took about 4 days for my BG to come back to a reasonable level (5s) but since then it has been reading at least a...

Why is this happening - anyone know?

Haha, I hadn't picked my typo! Now wouldn't that be good. Funnily yes, I had just started a new batch, but I was also having the same problem last week before I changed over. Thanks for the tip.
