    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

Northern Ireland executive released provisional roadmap today. Mentions potential to visit or visit family (adhering to social distancing measures) for all unless shielding... Thought that was interesting as it does not mention the over 70s, clinically vulnerable group (diabetics not shielding...

    How stupid can you be...?

You're not the only one. We try our best but we can't always be perfect. Double figures are a lot rarer than they used to be so we shouldn't beat ourselves up over the odd excursion. I'll cheers to a few wee drams sir [emoji106]

After eating that I'd be over the moon with a 10.3 [emoji23]!!

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

8 on the nose this morning. Blame my first takeaway chippy treat last night (microwaved on arrival to be sure). Annoyed its at that but 5 years ago 8 was seen as a good fasting reading so happy with the progress I've made. Have a good Saturday everyone!

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

8.0 this morning.. But high for my liking but shows progress from a few years ago where 8 was seen as a good reading [emoji123]

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

Yes that's what I was referring to. I understand it if diabetes is taken in its own right but how does that hazard ratio work with all the other variables. Are they just multiples together? Hard to know but what's key here is the risk again goes down with tighter control. Easier said than done...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.7. Lowered tresiba a bit as was a tad low past two mornings due to cutting down on portion size generally. Seems to have worked and hoping it will do so during the day too [emoji106]

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

Yea I'm encouraged by it too however still not sure how to figure out how HR for diabetes works in conjunction with another HR say age or other factors. As per my previous example if the HR is 1.5 is this 1.5 x 0.1 (age range 18-40)? As I said not well versed in interpreting these studies so...

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

Gave it a quick read and it says HR for diabetics well controlled is 1.5 in its own right. Be interesting to know if this is 1.5 of the assumed CFR of around 1% or it would be cross referenced to other parameters. Eg is it 1.5 of 0.1% for those aged 18-40? Also worth while to take into...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Recent addiction to pitta and morrocan hummus. Highly recommend as a mid afternoon snack [emoji108][emoji108]

    COVID 2019 Comorbidity with Diabetes

Issue here, as highlighted in other threads, is that it does not look at pre-admission control of BG levels. Can make some assumptions that having good control as a base will help with control once admitted but nothing definitive. Also would like to know if diabetes itself makes you more prone...

    Beer/alcohol

Not to be sterotypical as a Belfast man. But while guinness is delicious.. I've had to more or less cut it out completely. Have the odd pint now as a treat but other than making me gain weight it's disasterous when it comes to BG levels. The odd corona with dinner. Whisky wine and gin all seem...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

5.3 this morning but had a small hypo during the night that needed correction Was also a bit high after dinner then dropped a good bit before bed unexpectedly. Think it was down to not varying insulin site... Who knows sometimes it just can't be explained. Stable today. Stay safe everyone :)

diabetes and other co-morbidities with COVID-19

Yea pretty much what I have been grappling with... surely good control prior to admission (even if control is not within range once admitted) would ensure less existing complications (including issues with immune system). The other issue I would like more information on whether well...
