    I had bad gum disease. I used to see a dentist at the practice who kept saying i needed to pay 2000 .pounds for treatment. She went on maternity and i saw another dentist at the same practice who immediately referred me to hospital. After a year of treatment there my gums are much better...

    How old were you when you were diagnosed?

    I was officially diagnosed as type 2 when i was 27. But before that i was till i had impaired glucose tolerance....probably been diabetic for about 3 years before diagnosis (was in different country)..am now 35 Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    I have been on byetta for three years now. So obviously that is not working either. And i know me...if anything causes weight gain...i will gain weight :( i am very overweight as it is....if i had to gain 40lb...omg i don't think i ll bear it Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Potatoes

    I can live without potatoes but my downfall is pasta and rice...thanks to my Mediterranean upbringing. I find i can have a couple of tbps of brown rice ok. As for pasta i buy low carb one.     Hi Megan I really understand where you are coming from.i have been diabetic for nearly 10years (t2) and i just cannot accept it. Lots happened in the last 10 years and the ugly D was something i just could not cope with as well. Unlike u i am t2 and overweight but cant seem to stick to a diet...

    I am 35 in a few months. Diagnosed at 25 but prior to that I was told I had impaired glucose tolerance. It is difficult. Most of the years the control has not been great. I am running quite high values right now but scared to go to doctor cause I know they will put me on insulin....so watching...

    Diabetes on Call the Midwives

    Hi Whilst watching Call the Midwives yesterday, they showed the nurses visiting a guy who was diabetic. When they tested his urine and found it was high in sugar, they told him to stay off the pies, potatoes, beer etc...so it made me think...when did the NHS change its nutritional advice...
