Type 1 Need to gain Weight

The first thing you must do is get your BS levels in check, assuming you haven't already. Elevated glucose levels will lead to muscle loss, and low glucose levels will leave you with a host of its own problems. Once BS levels are stable, weight gain is essentially the same as with anyone else...

    Glimp

Generally don't do it after eating or after insulin s it will fluctuate. Leave it a few hours. If it changes too much anyway I think Glimp accounts for this and ignores it.

    Glimp

Open the app, hit the + button at the top right. Enter the glucose measured by the meter in the Glucose box, then hit the save icon at the top right. If done right, it will show a dot on the graph of the value you entered. If its too far out after a few entires it will automatically calibrate...

Doesn't mean for sure that you are type 2, you could be in honeymoon phase.

    Glimp

You can use it instead of the libre app. But you will need the libre app or reader to initially activate the sensor. Also if your DSN needs to see the data they may want it on libreview. Once its activated you open the app and simply scan as normal. It will then show you the graph. You can visit...

    Type 1 Freestyle Libre

Just one thing to add, GLIMP is only for android devices, spike is for apple. Xdrip is a Glimp alternative for android which some people prefer.

    Type 1 Freestyle Libre

I found this and you have to be careful, as I was too reliant upon it initially which almost led me to hypo unawareness. As helensaramay stated, I use GLIMP app and its much better.

    Type 1 Freestyle Libre

I second helensaramay. Glimp is far superior for me, can use as normal with NFC or with miaomiao as a CGM. Can calibrate with meter and get much better accuracy. Can also use the app with data on any number of devices, I also have it on my smartwatch.

How to gain weight without carbs

In general if you have a calorific surplus, you will gain weight. Fats have more calories per gram than protein or carbs. So eat more fats or proteins, such as nuts as these are very calorie dense.

    Question about novorapid sensitivity

Usually most people are more resistant in the morning and therefore require more insulin in the morning. Do you use basal insulin? and if so (do you take it once a day?) it could be that you are taking it at night so its around its peak in the morning, but has worn off by the evening as most do...

    HbA1c test results

You should have it within 3 weeks. I've had mine done before and they have had results at my checkup within a week. They usually ask for blood samples 2 weeks before reviews. So they can easily process it within 3 weeks.

NICE recommends dapagliflozin as type 1 diabetes treatment

Kidney failure happens over a lifetime, and can take decades. I doubt they have done decades of controlled testing with this. The fact your kidney's will be working harder, every day, for the rest of your life, means more stress and naturally higher rate of failure.

NICE recommends dapagliflozin as type 1 diabetes treatment

I'd rather my kidneys are not worked any more than they need to be, I will carry on using insulin to shuffle glucose into muscles rather than extra processing via the kidneys.

Sugar in fruit juice may raise risk of cancer, study finds

The guardian: Today something causes cancer, tomorrow its a cure. First sentence says: "Drinking large amounts of fruit juice may raise your risk of cancer, according to a big study which has found a link between the regular consumption of all kinds of sugary drinks and the likelihood of...

    Whole grain Wheetabix

I had been eating Weetabix for most of my life, including the 18 years of being diabetic. Never knew how badly it caused BS spikes until I got the libre. needless to say I have it very rarely now.

Lantus. When is best to split this insulin?

How long ago did you have that food and what was your level before and now? If you are having all of that without any bolus and your levels are steady or still low, your basal is definitely too high. In terms of hypos not much you can do today, apart from monitor and keep glucotabs at hand if...

Lantus. When is best to split this insulin?

That does seem like basal needs tweaking, but its best you spend the time now to get it right. One thing I found was that if my basal is right, my carb/insulin ratio is near enough 10:1. If its too high, I need significantly less and if its too low, I need considerably more. I'm not saying this...

Lantus. When is best to split this insulin?

Thanks for the tag. I do use Lantus, however I have never split my dose as I didn't want to inject twice a day, but that's my preference. It works well enough for me not to be worried. In regards to split dose however, as you said its essential to carry out a fasting basal test and preferably...

    Carbs v Sugars

I really hate the way the labeling system works and because people are not too aware its easy for them to advertise something that seems to be healthy, which actually isn't. A lot of the time they will say little, or no sugar, so you turn it over and look on the back 'of which sugars' is 0. But...
