Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

5.4 today. Lowest FBG yet. Very happy. My DH always has a snack before he goes to bed and I usually have one with him (always low carb). Last night I resisted and guess that's why I was so much lower this morning.

Success isn't just lower BG and weight loss..

I have a drawer full of clothes that are too small (various sizes!) and each week I have a trying on session. Today 2 pairs of Boden trousers (that I have never even taken the labels off) fit! That and my lowest ever FBG of 5.4 and another 3lbs gone since last weigh in have made me feel like a...

    I'm a Cooking Disaster

Completely agree. The substitutes just remind me how much I like the real thing and it sets off cravings all over again. This applies to all bread substitutes made with non bread ingredients or almond flour, coconut flour and the like. Somehow because of the wheat and yeast in Lidls HP rolls...

    Metformin is it working?

Yes the are very seedy and will give you all the fibre you need for a day. I sometimes add golden linseed and chia seeds to my raspberries / yoghurt / nuts. It's really annoying when your body doesn't respond the way you expect isn't it but I know for me the benefits of Metformin are more to...

    Newly diagnosed T2 member

For spaghetti try steamed shredded white cabbage. Or strips of courgette. For mashed potatoes try mashed cauliflower or celeriac. Instead of gnocchi have Brussels sprouts. Instead of rice grate raw cauliflower and stir fry. Just hope you like vegetables [emoji16]

    Not doing good

Whenever I am feeling sad about the things I have given up eating I try and have a low carb snack that I would have considered really naughty in the old low fat days. So if I want crisps I have pork scratchings, if I want chocolate I melt. Couple of squares if 90% choc into some double cream add...

    Metformin is it working?

I cannot eat porridge or Weetabix without a huge spike. IF you like a cereal style breakfast why not try some raspberries (a handful), greek yoghurt, nuts (I like pecans). You can add a little sweetener if you want to. I also add a dash of double cream if I've got some in the fridge. HAs...

    Breakfast

I have raspberries, greek yoghurt, a few pecans broken up and a little stevia based sweetener. Obviously a strict vegan wouldn't eat yoghurt but as you are prepared to consider eggs again I would have thought yoghurt would be acceptable. Has very little impact on BG.

Some things I've been pondering over

I read your post too and I completely get where your coming from. What I wonder is how much protein you are eating. I have also found like you that I am very carb intolerant but have recently found that if I am careful not to fill up on too much protein it helps. I currently trying to focus on...
