    Whos failing?

"The more money the surgery can save against a budget, the higher the bonuses for the GPs concerned." Welcome to Great Britain 2013! In case anyone has forgotten this country is broke, over a trillion in debt and still facing an enormous deficit. IF bonuses are paid for making savings against a...

Anaerobic Exercise and High BG Levels

Hi Cassie, At last! Someone who is in the same boat! I am a bit worried about injecting immediately before a session and was beginning to think along the line of injecting during the session. Here's an example from last night: About 25 mins before the session I was 5.2. I jogged 1200mtrs as a...

    Help please !

Re: Help please ! Your best bet is to phone whoever looks after your diabetes and give them full info on what you've eaten, insulin taken etc and ask them for advice. Colds can impact your levels but they can also just shift sometimes and you may need to make changes to the amount of insulin...

    Pulse rate

Go get the check up when it's on offer. Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago as my pulse was 42, they sent me for an ECG and after a while the doc told me to go home and, I quote, "we're just not used to seeing such a fit diabetic". I am a keen runner and have fun now trying to relax...

    Coke Zero Cinema Advert

I think my reaction to this advert was "you're job is to give me what I ask for mate, you want to give me life changing health advice then get back to school and become a Doctor!". I work away during the week, sometimes I lack human company. Then the Go Compare advert came on and it was carnage!

    5% CLUB

I think the problem is accepting that as a T1 diabetic we are not normal. Yes, we can live a normal life but our body is not working as nature intended. A normal persons level will be between 4 and 5.9% and that is with a wonderfully intricate and complex balancing system going on in their...

Very low carb diet and BG levels

JD - fantastic results, well done! One thing - I assume you're T2, only it doesn't say and there may be a T1 somewhere ditching the insulin :)

    New to insulin

Speaking purely from my own personal experience, don't worry about carb counting too soon. Just keep good records of your BG levels so your care team can advise you and you can get used to being a diabetic first of all! The carb counting will follow and that's when you can take on the...

    Steroids for gym training

Jeez, us diabetics are warned about erectile disfunction and if I'm gonna go wonky down there the last thing I'd want is having it all shrivelled through using steroids too!! Talk about a double whammy!

Anaerobic Exercise and High BG Levels

I joined a running club around 5 months ago and have started interval training twice a week. In the past I ran by myself with no structure, just as many miles as I felt like and at my pace. I kept detailed notes of my BG levels before and after (during if possible) and how many Jelly Babies I...

Hmmmm.... not plastic surgery then?

    Running - advice needed

Eat something during exercise as well. I have a jelly baby every mile I run, or more if it's very intensive. I also reduce my insulin the meal time before and after. When I am exercising regularly I also need to reduce my background insulin. Also be aware that not exercising (through injury...

Moving to Carlisle I am starting a new job in Carlisle at the end of this month and am looking to rent a room from Monday to Friday. Anyone know of anything going? :D ps.... I am T1 so it counts as diabetes discu :shh: ssion!!

How much exercise do you do?

Your calves will explode increasing your distance by that much! I tore a calf muscle several years ago by jumping from 7.5 to 10 miles and had to pull out of the same half marathon that I'm running in October. I could have bagged this one six years ago with a little patience and care.

    DLA

I'd be very surprised but I am basing that on personal experience where child benefit is concerned. Despite both being parents most agencies normally require one parent to be stated as the "main carer" and they are entitled to the benefits. Normally that's the mother. I would definitely contact...

    £12 for a Dr's letter to join a gym!!!!

Is there such a thing as "nice, safe fatties" where a gym is concerned? Surely it is these people who turn up once a week who are going to be the most out of shape and most likely to suffer an injury or worse? In fact, these people (if they do exist) would be wonderful members, pay their money...

    Cows fed candy during drought

So..... we use the cow scraps for gelatin which goes into candy....... then feed the candy to the cows....... then use the cow scraps for gelatin........ genius if slightly cannabalistic! I'll start throwing the cows a jelly baby or two when I'm running past them.

Do you have to wear shoes all the time?

Eurgh!! Socks and sandals are perhaps ever so slightly worse than Crocs........ both, of course, become even more reprehensible the younger the person wearing them is. You get to a certain age where it just doesn't matter and you can wear everything that the funny little magazine stapled inside...

Do you have to wear shoes all the time?

Bonkers by name......... Crocs were never ever ever, ever ever ever and never ever ever, ever ever ever will be fashionable!!!
