Programme on BBC 3 last night

anniep - that is exactly what the programme was about, and a lot of people seem to be missing that point. I for one have to be careful of the fats that I eat as I need to keep my cholesterol in control and it can be a nightmare reading labels not only for low carb but low/lower fat as well.

Programme on BBC 3 last night

I thought the programme was quite interesting. All Zoe ate for dinner was pre packaged microwave dinners, breakfast and lunch were so called "diet" foods - with higher sugar levels. All had to be low fat, reduced fat or lower fat than normal products. She did gain 3 lbs in weight over the 4...

    Fenofibrate??

Ken, Thanks for that description of what Fenofibrate does. I've been on it and Atorvastatin for years now too with no ill effects from either, and my lipids are in good shape and improving with the low carb/low fat way of eating.

I was going to get that one after a recommendation on here, but since discovered I need to eat low fat too, and it's 10% fat. :(

    Blood Test Results

An update - for the past 2 months my weight loss has been a painfully slow 1lb a week. I really was getting discouraged. This week following the same low carb plan, but eating low fat I have lost 3lbs. To say I'm delighted would be an understatement. :D So surely in the long run this...

    Fish Oil Capsules

I've been taking fish oil capsules for quite a few years, and when diagnosed checked it out with my GP. She said they are fine to take. My blood sugars are well under control, so they don't have any adverse effect on me.

    Blood Test Results

Thank you so much cugila. I never thought of looking at a blood pressure site - since my blood pressure is the only thing about me that is normal lol. Will have a good look around that site, but it certainly helps with the fats. One more question though - I like to do sautéed leeks...

    Blood Test Results

Got my blood test results today and they're all looking good. HbA1c started at 6.6, down 3 months later to 5.8 - on diet and exercise. Doctor is well pleased with my results. I've been low carbing and in the past two months have introduced some fats eg 10% Greek yoghurt (occasionally), full...

    Really annoyed!

Hi gilliwilli, I hear you loud and clear. Congratulations on taking control of your diabetes. I was diagnosed around the same time as you and been on a low carb diet thanks to the advice on this forum. Been testing like yourself, but I am annoyed with myself. Like you I was with my GP...

    Ideas for Packed Lunches?

Hi John, I was diagnosed in October this year with type 2 and started a low carb diet. Hubby, who is not diabetic, started this diet with me and he takes a vegetable stir fry into work. He does a physically demanding job and finds this satisfies him, along with a piece of cheese for his other...

    Struggling with lunches

I found a recipe online for low carb Cauliflower Bisque - I've just made it and it is absolutely delicious. Carol, I must try your soup too - want to freeze a few different ones so I don't get tired of the one kind.

    Struggling with lunches

Thanks to all for the ideas. Omelette is a great idea for lunch, must try the scrambled egg and cheese or tomato. I tried making home made soup a few times with the prepared vegetables from the supermarket, chicken stock cube and chicken but I found it was putting my blood sugars up. Gave up...

    Struggling with lunches

Thanks for all the information gleaned from here so far - I'm still learning. I'm struggling with lunches - it does take longer now to make dinner than before so I like something quick for lunch - at home. I take yogurt and blueberries for breakfast. Is it ok for me to have this for lunch as...

    LOW CARB SUCCESS STORIES

Success stories Just got to record my own success story here. I am so grateful for the help of this forum - it's only through here I have learned so much and made the changes necessary. First GP I saw (who apparently specialises in diabetes) just said to go away, no need to test, no dietary...

    more "leeks" than the Titanic!

Sorry, I've no tips to add here but thank you so much for the much needed laugh lovinglife and sugar2. I can just imagine getting the home delivery and finding all those leeks ... and sugar2's 1 sprout. I was sitting here in floods of tears this morning finding life hard to deal with, but...
