Type 1 Lifer being put on Metformin

Ha ha ha ha oh that's so true. Well i dint think my TDD's were that high until i read other peoples. On average it's around 36u, basal being 22(a bit top heavy) and bolus around 14 (61/39%). I'm working on evening that out. Will be interesting to see the difference Met will make. So far I've...

Type 1 Lifer being put on Metformin

Funnily enough yes and it has and it came back "sub-clinical hypothyroidism". This was done in May but my Endo doesn't want to treat me for it yet as I've very recently had a heart attack and he said the drugs for the thyroid problem wouldn't be suitable just yet. I'm having another blood test...

Well I'm one week in and............nausea, nausea and more nausea [emoji31]. No appetite whatsoever and having horrible eggy burps. Perhaps i need to go and ask about having the slower release ones? Been having loads of hypos so trying to basal test and adjust my pump settings accordingly. I...

    Remember when ?

I do remember seeing this on a tv programme called "Tomorrow's World". They talked about it being the new treatment and demonstrated it by pressing the button and a mist shooting out. It looked a bit like a stungun with a radar dish lol. This would have been in the early 80's. My dad said he'd...

Feeling very belittled by the pharmacist

What a horrid experience for you. Please try to not let it get to you for too long. As another commenter pointed out, you may have been on the receiving end of someone's very bad day. I'm having problems with Lloyds too, not ordering in my heart meds and various other things, so much so I've...

Thank you AndBreathe, certainly makes for interesting reading. From the pointers you took from Deakins book i hit every one of them and really, when you think about it, although i have to externally administer my insulin if i am one of these unlucky people whose body struggles to utilise...

"Best" things doctors have said to you

DN: let's see if we can get you to 55 The above has stuck with me for the past few years. It's wormed it's way into my brain and since my heart attack in March it rings around my head constantly. The DN and i actually get on great though, it's was probably a witty remark (i hope) The other...

    Type 1 pins and needles

I used to suffer this a few years ago in both wrists/hands and was duly sent off for neurological tests. The neurologists reported that it was not carpal tunnel and probably neuropathy. However, my consultant at the orthopaedic hospital said that he sees a lot of Type 1's who's reports come back...
