    Type 1 and Frozen Shoulders

@Robinredbreast. Yes, i had a stent put in on the day of my heart attack, in the artery that had caused the problem and at that same time they saw that i had a "borderline blockage" (70% blocked up to a 100%) in another artery (the LAD) which they left alone for me to have further tests. I went...

    Type 1 and Frozen Shoulders

@Marling. You are not alone [emoji6] Yes, I'm afraid sexiness goes out the window with frozen shoulders. Bra's are a struggle that only "frozen" ladies can understand and i can't tell you how many times I've gotten stuck in tops because i can't manoeuvre my arms to pull them off. Ha ha it's...

    Type 1 and Frozen Shoulders

I'm wondering, all you lovely people who have commented, if any of you have heart problems?? I had a heart attack on 19th March and consequently been diagnosed with further coronary heart disease. It is a factor and increases risk for frozen shoulders.

    Type 1 and Frozen Shoulders

iHs totally agree with you there about the massage and stretching. I've carried on with those for the last 4 years which i think has helped from the shoulders locking up even more. My left shoulder gives me the most pain, being in the freezing phase and is most painful at night but I've just...

    Type 1 and Frozen Shoulders

Lol, i can get my left arm to the side of my left bum cheek and my right i can now just about bend to the top of my right bum cheek. Sorry about the description ;-). It is a right old pain. I've looked at so many different remedies RRB I've lost count. One day they'll thaw, in the meantime I'll...

    Type 1 and Frozen Shoulders

Hi RRB, yes that's one of the ones I've read too. In my own experience I've only ever known women have it too. I have quite a few of the risk factors mentioned so i guess that's my link to having it. Boooooo ;-)

How are you finding physio Daphne917? I personally found it made my right shoulder worse so i stopped after around a year. I haven't bothered with any for the left shoulder not had any steroid injections in it. Hope yours resolves a lot faster than mine are taking. :-D

    Type 1 and Frozen Shoulders

RuthW: wow! So i guess with my right shoulder on it's way to it's 5th year being frozen i guess I'm in for a long ride!! Since my heart attack I've increased my veggie intake including a lot more peppers, will be interesting to see what happens. I gave up on the physio ages ago as i felt it...

    Type 1 and Frozen Shoulders

Wow! Thanks for your replies guys. I'm so sorry you've all had the same experiences and it's very interesting to hear some of you also have or have had problems with trigger fingers/thumbs too. Am thinking there must surely be a link with T1 and tendons?! Interestingly i also had plantar...

    Type 1 and Frozen Shoulders

Morning :-D. Whist I'm sitting here reading through all the different topics it's just occurred to me to ask if there are any other T1's out there with a frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)? BOTH of mine are frozen, which is an absolute bind. My right shoulder has been frozen for 4 years...

Thank you ConradJ. I'm taking the chromium already but haven't tried the cinnamon or the Vit D3 . I'll look into the book you mentioned.

Type 1 Lifer being put on Metformin

That's very interesting Ruth. My BMI is unfortunately higher than that, in part due to my large muscle mass and part fat lol. See i agree with you, that although slow i could improve the weight part myself. I love exercising and for the last 3 months I've been very restricted in what i can do...

    Steroid inhaler

I use a steroid inhaler twice a day (Seretide 250). I don't notice any peaks after taking it but when it's gets into cough and cold season and i get my bouts of chest infections and end up on prednisolone i literally have to double my basal rates on my pump for the duration of the course as they...

Has anyone here been a diabetic for more than 40 years?

I'm just past the 40 year mark as a T1. I'm 45 and was diagnosed at 5. I confess I've had quite a lot of eye problems (all the laser I'm allowed on my left due to lots of bleeds culminating in a vitrectomy 2 yrs ago due to an old blood vessel tugging on the retina causing lots of haemorrhages)...

Type 1 Lifer being put on Metformin

Thank you @noblehead. You're right the info out there is more geared to USA diabetics. I was bit bothered about taking yet another drug but reading the comments today i do feel far more comfortable with the idea. I will start with the evening tablet first as i see my DSN on 17/7 so we can...

Type 1 Lifer being put on Metformin

Thank you Dillinger, that's really interesting to read. It's so useful to me to hear of your experience of it. Hmmmm i too have a high carb ratio at some times too, 1:1 and one slightly higher for a period in the afternoon so that might be one of the Endo's deciding factors. I think, with all...

Type 1 Lifer being put on Metformin

Thank you all for your comments. I don't know how to reply individually so I'll just have to try here :-S @BaliRob. I honestly believe that i DO NOT have a pancreas that's suddenly producing insulin after 40 years. My readings since March were generally in the 5 & 6's then i had a few readings...

Type 1 Lifer being put on Metformin

Postitnote:- yes i admit weight loss is very slow, sometimes just half a pound a fortnight!! Thinking about it for the months following my heart attack (almost 3 now) I've only lost 3lbs and that's with a great diet and exercise effort! I guess I've been mostly worrying about the side effects...
