Scared to drop the cheese and nuts at night as they seem to be working but not a proper basal test if food taken?

What we've ended up doing is increasing his calories including more cheese and nuts at bedtime, it seems to be working atm! 4 nights with no lows. He's waking with BG on more or less what he went to bed with tho not a proper test I suppose with the nuts and cheese.

He starts dropping at 2am.

Looking at the graph the first which lasted about half an hour looks about 3.9ish then presumably a liver dump took him up to 4ish then again an hour later a bit lower for an hour. Unfortunately he's hypo unaware at those levels he did have the shakes a couple of weeks ago on 3.3 tho.

Because we've got a Freestyle we're sort of basal testing in the night every night! I dropped the basal because of lows in the nigh but it doesn't happen every night. He always drops at 2am but not always hypo low. We can get a three day stretch where he goes to bed on 8 drops to 5 at 2am but...

Husband has just injected 5 slow Detemir instead of 5 Novorapid. He would be taking 6 slow at 9.30 (it's now 6.30). What shall we do? Take the fast now and just 1 Detemir at 9.30?

It's happened twice, two different pens. The first my daughter watched my husband dial in 6 and inject, when I checked the pen later to get the time of the injection it was showing 8.5. Second time he primed on 2 then injected 2.5 and it was showing 5. Will be watching like a hawk from now on!!

Anyone had any issues with the pens showing a different number on the display when checking to what was injected?

Thank you for replying, only managed the one basal so far as we've had lows during the day. I wonder could you clarify the 24 hour rule for me? I thinks it's after a low don't correct a high for 24 hours. So next meal whatever the BG only inject for the food with no correction. Does the BG just...

You're not being picky Grant, when I said seemed to be okay I meant the difference between bed BG and morning BG was 1.4 which should mean it's okay but with still having problems you have to wonder.

Have just finished reading about it YAAYAYAYAY. Husband also has memory issues so will be wonderful, wonder if GP will prescribe it? He's on Novopen 3s at the mo which appear to be the equivalent of using Betamax.
