    Correction dose help please

This is great thank you so much, very very clear. My husband has read it too and it makes sense to him as well. We like the idea of injecting .5 - 1 unit to see how much the BG comes down by, also thinking we could check the action time of the insulin by testing over the last couple of hours of...

    Correction dose help please

Thanks himtoo, don't worry about vague any and all thoughts gratefully received. The dose was too high even with the dextrose he was on 4.6 by 8pm. Could you think about some more of my sums for me please? The 3 dextrose were 9C, evenings we're using 1:6 so the dextrose should have used up more...

    Correction dose help please

We're still struggling with ups and downs. decided to try to work out an accurate (LOL) correction dose by trying to find the action time of the Novarapid. so 4pm 12.5BG still half a unit of IOB Target of 7mmol so 12.5 - 7 = 5.5/2= 2.75 Assuming 1U would drop BG by 2mm per unit so injected 3...

    Insulin resistance?

The amount of insulin I've injected 6 times a day for 44 years is staggering so I wouldn't worry too much if I was you. That is actually very helpful, thank you. My husband's sensitivity to insulin has changed radically recently like the OP, we'll work it out eventually. How on earth did you...

    Can't make sense of this

Thank you very much, very clear, I think I'm wanting everything to be a bit more exact - obviously not going to happen. It was down to 8 by 7pm. He's had his dinner with no adjustment, just the bolus. Let's just hope for a better day tomorrow and thanks again for the help, much appreciated. I...

    Can't make sense of this

    Help with basal testing please

Had a go at basal testing last night using 'Think Like a Pancreas' Chicken and veg dinner at 7, 22 carbs 4 units. 10pm test 6, 2.30am test 6.8, 6.40am 4.6, drank coffee, 9.20am 5.7. It looks like the current basal of 14U Detemir night and morning doesn't need to change but the BS aren't steady...

Type 1: Diabetic nurses - good or bad?

Am struggling to get my husband's BS under control (he has cognitive impairment so is being bloody awkward) but have bought Thinking Like a Pancreas and we're going to do the basal testing tonight, wish us luck! A friend asked me yesterday why we don't go to the doctor and ask to see a diabetic...

Feeling ok, no weight gain, honeymoon a long time ago, retired. But WEATHER! really? This started at the start of the cold spell. Could it really cause such a change?

Hi all, after a long time on a ratio of 1:9 I now appear to need 1:4 any thoughts as to why?
