    Am I now a type 3 Diabetic?

Thanks Boo, It certainly looks like I'm in need of insulin now and will ask the diabetic nurse why she won't put me on it, it is possible she was waiting to see if the Victoza worked first which it obviously hasn't. I just wonder if I will be able to have carbs again once on insulin though or if...

    Am I now a type 3 Diabetic?

In the past with the help of Diabetes.co.uk members I have been able to control my blood glucose levels via my oral meds and low carb diet but now my fasting bloods have recently been 12.4 and today I managed to get them down to 9.5. At 70 years of age after 30 years as a type 2 diabetic I am...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

My fasting bloods have recently been 12.4 and today I managed to get them down to 9.5. at 70 years of age after 30 years as a type 2 diabetic I am no longer well controlled and a couple of months ago the hospital diabetic centre changed me to injections of the non-insulin medication Victoza...

    Low carb bread

Yes it is a life saver for me but my local Sainsburys have told me they are no longer stocking Hi-Lo bread which has angered me as it is a much needed low carb product that keeps my diabetes sugar levels perfect. I believe that when your life is at risk then Sainsbury's should never have removed...

Type 1: Low carb high fat diet

Many thanks re the protein, I did add more during my low carb dieting. I have now looked at eating much more green salads and vegies plus steel cut oats with chia seeds each morning with fresh fruit throughout the day and cutting down my portions of meat and fish on my plate. This has been very...

Type 1: Low carb high fat diet

Hi, I have been on a low carb diet for over 12 months and at first was excited to find my weight loss took me into my premium BMI range and my blood glucose levels came down to between 5 and 6 mmol. Reversing symptoms of Diabetes 2

Hi Arlene, I have been on a low carb diet for several months now and purchase a lot of my food online like my breakfast cereals of flax meal, chia seeds and chocolate nibs. LOW CARB SUCCESS STORIES

I have been on low carb food now for almost a year and when I am strict with myself my blood glucose levels remain low. I am finding it difficult however to find alternatives when I get fed up of just eating meat, fish, green vegetables and berries. I mix flax seed and chia seed for my breakfast...

Thanks to the Low Carb Program

Well done, I have also had great success with the low carb diet and I find restaurants very accommodating in exchanging root veggies for either just green veg or a salad and have yet to be refused. On a recent cruise, although they did not give me a special low carb option I was able to request...

    LOW CARB SUCCESS STORIES

Thanks for the thread, Fergus My readings were in double figures up until I cut down on the carbs and I was called into my GPs after the previous Hba1c blood test result. My blood sugar readings were up to 18.5 and I was desperate to sort myself out. After only 3 days on a low carb diet my...

There is hope thanks to Diabetes.co.uk

Hi Serena, I am drinking lots of water too though it has to be carbonated for me to enjoy drinking a lot of it. Are the Lidl high protein rolls low carb too ? If they were low carb (say 3 to 5 grams per roll) I would certainly try them out myself.

There is hope thanks to Diabetes.co.uk

Hi Frederic, my better experiences in diabetes control have come from this community and although well read on healthy diets and food (having been a health and fitness director) I always followed my GP's and Dietician's advice after being diagnose almost 30 years ago. The problem was that such...

There is hope thanks to Diabetes.co.uk

Update on my diabetes plan of action: Having been at between 11.5mmol/l and 18.6mmol/l over a considerable time which was quite frankly killing me even though I was following the government guidelines for diabetes type 2. I decided 3 weeks ago to join diabetes.co.uk to learn what I could do...
