BBC story on "shake and soup" diet

I've been doing it since Monday, dropped around 8 lbs as of tonight. Blood glucose hasn't been above 7 all week, FBG has been between 4 - 5.8 according to my CGM. First couple of days were difficult when I could smell food, my stomach angry rumbling but I think I've got used to it now. Not...

BBC story on "shake and soup" diet

Thanks everyone, I'll give it the best I can. I was contemplating not even doing it, since I've lost so much doing low-carb and exercise. But that was by myself with no support or advice (apart from researching and reading forums like this) But it's not just the 12 weeks low calorie eating...

BBC story on "shake and soup" diet

Fair enough, when you put it like that it makes sense. I still believe it gets a lot of negativity though, even partial completion and some weight loss is a benefit if people are struggling with diets, losing weight etc. I’ll see how it goes, but have every intention of completing it fully

BBC story on "shake and soup" diet

Should people who drop out be counted though? It is extremely difficult but so is going to the gym and changing your lifestyle, if you quit anything you by definition won’t succeed at it. I’ve lost around 4st doing low carb, ~1500 calories a day and daily exercise, I’m due to start this program...

BBC story on "shake and soup" diet

There's a story published by diabetes org uk 6 days ago saying saying one third of people who complete this go into remission? Surely if it's that many then it isn't a failure?

    Soups & Smoothie diet.

I officially start this next Monday, after a couple of months of waiting and then some supply issues that are now sorted out - I understand a few companies are used depending on where you are in the country. For me it's being run by Momenta and the Soups, Shakes & Porridge is supplied by Habitual.

Huel complete food mix has anyone tried it?

Hello, Yes, In short, it's a low calorie meal replacement program. I believe this can explain it better https://www.england.nhs.uk/diabetes/treatment-care/diabetes-remission/ It is done in stages lasting 3 months for meal replacement, and a further 9 months of coaching/advice/education on...

Huel complete food mix has anyone tried it?

You can purchase the exact same products they use on the NHS remission program if you wanted to try the diet yourselves, the ones I have been sent are from Habitual. Id speak to a GP/professional for advice before starting anything like that though.

    Dexcom ONE+ vs Libre 2 & Libre 2+

Now the ONE+ is out and cheaper than running Libre2. I will be switching, last week I had a Libre2 sensor give very inaccurate readings.. for example, finger prick tests were around 5 and the Libre2 sensor was 9+ and erratic. (after 2 days of wearing, +12hrs before activating) Applied same as...

STILL TRYING TO CONTROL MY BLOOD LEVELS

Like others have mentioned, getting a cheap blood glucose monitor will help you see what sort of foods are keeping your glucose high. Personally for me, Weetabix are the worst thing ever, never again. Surprisingly I can eat potato/basmati rice and have less of an impact from those breakfast...

    HOW TO MEASURE VISCERAL FAT?

Wow, if the readings are accurate the Body Scan model of those scales looks a very impressive piece of kit.

    HOW TO MEASURE VISCERAL FAT?

As far as I know, the only way to measure precisely would be a scan. But you can estimate the % of visceral fat using a formula based on your waist circumference.
