Saw a movie where Ben Bikman recommended ketones tracking (urine dips) as a way of shadow tracking insulin ... as in high ketones = low insulin = all good ... he said it is rough and ready but the only way you can (kind of) measure insulin at home, so it is much better than nothing ... he does...
Thank you for helpful info ...
......Can you check what the HDL actually says? You have put "up to 1" It should be "over 1"
Yes, sorry, my mistake ... the little arrow is pointing right ie over 1 ... which it is, hurrah! (I blame the brain fog).
.....Do I take statins?
Yes, for years now...
I finally got a printout of the 2nd blood test (17/9/2018) which pronounced me T2. All new stuff to me, would appreciate any guidance/comments ... thank you in advance.

Yes, the old "one piece of toast can't hurt" perception ... very trying ... I usually ask Would you offer an alcoholic one little drink? I shudder to remember my own misconceptions about diabetics before I became one ... forgive them, they know not what they do  :wideyed:
oops, I was a little too exuberant there, sorry about that, clearly many people encounter more enlightened medical personnel than has been my lot so far in the diabetes milieu ... again, no offence intended, thanks for being a sport :)
LOL. Not in my surgery, they don't! Doctors and dieticians and prediabetic presenters and Diabetic Clinic doctors are all are firmly in the pay of Ancel Keyes. Not trying to be rude, no offence intended, just surprised and concerned.
So pleased to see this excellent system in place ... I am on many internet forums (mainly for video games), which are usually madhouses not for the frail, so it's nice to see caring advice to people who are putting themselves out there, and making themselves vulnerable. As we say on my favourite...
How interesting ... thanks for that, amazing what you learn ... I'm with you entirely as regards love for pets, we are gaga about our dog, who is 13 going on 3, and is clearly the most handsome and loving Jack Russell ever, very fit because my wife is firm with his food and exercise ... he is a...
Yikes! Your cat is diabetic? I never knew a cat could be diabetic. Poor thing. How did you find that out? How do you treat it at home?
What about dogs? Can dogs get diabetes? I'd better not tell my wife ... she will not like to hear that ... she adores our dog. :shy:
I know the feeling only too well ... don't be disheartened, you are in the right place for advice and encouragement and after a while it does settle down as you learn more about how to control your diet and record your data ... just take it slow, Rome was not built in a day :)
Recommend two books. (I hope I am allowed to do that on this forum?)
How We Get Fat, and what we can do about it ... Gary Taubes
The Big Fat Surprise ... Nina Teicholz
They are both a little tedious, but very informative (and shocking).
Lifesavers, imo
Big empathy with your fibro ... my wife...
I weigh myself each Sunday morning, no clothes and scale in same place ... sometimes I step on scales during the week, just out of curiosity ... last time I did that, I had lost a pound, happy days. Interested to see what today (Sunday) will reveal.
Incidentally, my wife says the usual amount...
Sorry for your problem with nurse ... classic case of "With friends like these ..." ... admire your grit and determination in the face of these hurdles ... you will definitely win in the end. :watching:
