confusion over 12 weeks or not 12 wweeks¬

we had a phone in with a GP on our local bbc radio station and the information she gave was actually FAIRLY clear.... Doesn't depend on type; if your latest hbA1C was OVER 75 then you are at risk and on the list. Only other caveat is that "other medical problems" may ALSO add you to the list...

is Homogenised milk better for us?

just to clarify.... Pasteurization is "cooking" the milk to kill germs and is the standard ( as opposed to RAW milk which is untreated at all) Homogenization is a process AFTER pasteurization that mechanically smashes up the fat particles (CREAM as it is really called) and re-distributes it...

Any way to stop these after meal blood sugar spikes?

Can i detect you only eat 2 meals per day from that graph? As a suggestion, little and often eating; have you had any carb counting advice? What about exercise? I find 1000 steps will drop my BS by one point.....

    Newly diagnosed with pre-diabetes

Well firstly many people at DX have MUCH higher figures than those for both Hb and BS so dont panic! Read all you can one Low Carbing it is definately the key for many many people on here and definitely worked for me! Also take care to remember it is a long race and dont expect instant results...

    Type 2 and shielding letter

As i just posted elsewhere also.... I saw that diabetes was included at first (we get a free flu jab...) but later disappeared from some lists. We have an excellent BBC local radio station here in Norfolk and on the phone-in medical section this week , I asked the following:- "Can the GP...

Covid letters for high risk vulnerability please read

I saw that diabetes was included at first (we get a free flu jab...) but later disappeared from some lists. We have an excellent BBC local radio station here in Norfolk and on the phone-in medical section this week , I asked the following:- "Can the GP confirm if diabetes is on the list of...

    Newly diagnosed! Hi and help!

Figures you had on DX seem pretty common place when first starting and all the advice above certainly helped me, Figures on my signature strip...) I was also advised to get a copy of Carbs & Cals book but it is also an app; huge eye opener on natural and hidden sugars well worth the investment...

    Hi from Timm

hey there, I came originally from Wallington and am now in Norwich, if you are lucky enough to get onto the Hospital Diabetes unit (N&NUH Elsie Bartrand Unit) then you will be very well looked after! Its definately a different pace of life up here away from the Big Smoke and you should really...

    Test results

My results have been pretty similar to yours, and i feel much better now. If you feel better in yourself chances are its going in the right direction at the right speed for you, don't rush things seems also to be the key, try one change at a time and its easier to monitor your own results, its a...

    Help and opinions?

Well on DX was in an ambulance on way to A&E, not sure the proper anti-body tests were run then to confirm one way or another! I think he is mainly looking at how well the results are going; although some coronary issues have also complicated matters over the last year!

    Help and opinions?

My experience was similar, DX last Dec, HbA1c 131 down to 50 within 6 months. I don't think lowering that quickly has been a problem for me, and I certainly feel much better, with regard to eye screening it took about 2 months for me, but I could visit the normal optician for a free eye test...

    Care Sens Dual Meter

I have used one of these for a year now since DX, and have always liked using the Bluetooth link to my IPhone XR. However after a software update on the phone this week it now will not "pair" (my son's Iphone11 however does!) Obviously I will be contacting both the meter and phone manufacturers...

    Type 1 Work issue

I believe this situation would be adequately covered in the UK with the "Disability Discrimination Act" an employer who fails to make "reasonable adjustments" would clearly be in breach of this. Dependant on the size of the company/unit you are employed at its hard to accurately work out...

    Un Pasteurised Milk

Posting works just like any other items really, they just need to use freezer block type items to keep things cool. Usually items are sent priority and definitely next day!

    uni, diabetes and concentration

You can work through it, and I am sure that the uni concerned (which one is it by the way?) will support you if they are aware of the circumstances, but as with most things in life the initial steps have to be taken by yourself, and usually you will need to do some prodding/pushing to get all...

    Shocked by bake off comment

As an op-ed point, highlighting the POTENTIAL of harm it could cause is handy for those with little knowledge. I do feel it does need MUCH more explanation, but given the amount of "fake-news" that is always making the rounds especially on social media platforms like this how can we continue to...

19 year old female diagnosed with Type 2 and PCOS

Its great that you are looking out for your sister, but it strikes me that perhaps she has not "accepted" that she has this condition. Until she comes on board and starts to take control for herself it will be very difficult for others to do it for her.

    Hypos

In my experience I find that working hard and sweating uses up my supply of sugar (BG lowers) that leads to snacking.... Obviously you can then have the problem of too much sugar in the blood stream but insufficient insulin on board to allow the sugar to where it is needed in the hard working...
