    Blood tests

Hi Lainie71, I also find it helpful if I take water from midnight the night before my tests, that way I know I'm getting a clean test, my old DN used to tell me to drink as much water as I wanted before the tests then I could eat and drink whatever I wanted after. That late coffee and breakfast...

    Hi everyone

Hi PeteWolf, Welcome to the forums. :) I think a lot of us felt just like you when not only do we get diagnosed but when we finally find these forums. I only joined about 3 months ago although diagnosed about 12/13 years ago and really had no idea what to eat or how to keep the costs down...

Newly Diagnosed - trying to process the news

Hi krishk, Sorry to hear you have been unwell but really pleased to hear you are now well again. :) You have done so well in a relatively short time so feel proud of yourself [clapping]. I personally wouldn't think of cheating yet, in fact I'm not intending to cheat at all for some time to...

Hi MickeyD123, Welcome to the forums. :) I am also T2D and since joining this forum decided to try the low carb diet with much success, not only lowering my BG but also losing that extra weight I put on. Strange thing to me is now I'm eating low carb I never seem to feel hungry between meals...

    Canaglifluzin,

Hi again, That is the dose I started on and hope to go back to soon as I had no side effects on the 100mg so hopefully you won't either. Yes it also brought my numbers down but not as fast as they wanted which is why they put the dose up. 6.2 sounds good to me as well. Please let me know how...

    Canaglifluzin,

I wish you much luck Pinkcoat1965. I personally haven't tried the WW but am having good success with low carb diet and losing weight each week. My surgery didn't tell me the side effects and by the time I found out I was already taking them, they have helped but am hoping to come off them soon...

    Canaglifluzin,

Hi Pinkcoat1965, Yes I am taking Canagliflozin 300mg once a day and am hoping to go back to 100mg a day or come off it. It seems to have helped my diabetes but watch out for those side affects, especially the waterworks infections and itching, it drives me nuts at times which is why I want to...

Newly Diagnosed and Trying to Stay Positive

Hi fieldsing, Firstly welcome to the forums. :) So you are already cutting out junk foods and carbs and walking, well done you that is a great start. I have to agree with the others, if someone doesn't want to date you simply because you are diabetic then they don't deserve you and aren't...

Newly Diagnosed - trying to process the news

Hi krishk, I love fruit, all fruit and now have had to reduce it big time from my diet sadly, just reading your list of fruit you had for breakfast really did make me drool with envy..... But I know if I had them my BG would be sky high. I now limit myself to maybe a few blueberries or...

    Scared of high BS resultstoday

Personally I would just try one drink and test as usual, just before the first mouthful and 2 hours after the first mouthful, hopefully it won't have spiked you. If the reading is no more than 2 full points you should be ok i.e. if before the drink your BG was say 6.0 and after it is no more...

Do you regularly check your blood ketones? Why and whats your score?

Thank you EllieM. I'm T2D and am now following a low carb diet and didn't even think of ketones. My numbers have come down big time since joining this forum and now very rarely go above 8.5 so hopefully I don't need to check them..... I hope! :)

Do you regularly check your blood ketones? Why and whats your score?

Should all diabetics be testing for ketones if so is it a separate meter to buy? Might sound like a daft question but no one outside of hospital has ever mentioned ketones to me o_O
