Some Info On The Freestyle Libre If Anyone Knows

I was walking in the highlands with a friend who is also T1. We'd got to an appropriate flat spot for a bit of a breather, and I thought "time to test sugar" - and she thought the same. I reached into my pocket, pulled out the reader, pressed a button, waved it against my arm, read the number...

    Dropping And Worried

That's a theory, and I've seen it pushed for kids too to stop them faking/deliberately hypoing, but I prefer the excuse to eat something nice :-) I know the fridge thing - I've done that a few times, though I am getting better at controlling my reaction (and also at not crashing quite so hard...

Should Family Members Be "screened" For T1d Genes?

Given they were on their way to a guaranteed early death, those volunteers didn't have too much to lose :)

I always wondered why the nurses were so keen on the plasters or cotton wool/tape - mine typically don't leak at all after the first drip. I now see why :-)

It's actually 50 quid on freestyle - 60 quid includes VAT, which you can tick a box to say you don't need to pay it. I'll let others comment on the costs from physical pharmacies - but it won't be websites.

    Managing exercise and insulin

Thoughts which this brings to mind : What insulin regime are you on? If MDI, there will be your basal still working. Somehow you either need more food or less insulin. How to achieve that really depends on you - some will eat sugary things while exercising to keep a steady supply going, some...

Guys!! Morning Blood Sugar? Seriously All Over The Place!

Libre has been accurate for me when I've been on Lantus, Toujeo and Levemir.

Guys!! Morning Blood Sugar? Seriously All Over The Place!

I'm not sure it's the movement which is causing the differences - it's pretty accurate for me, regardless of the amount of activity I'm doing.

I was reckoning the sensor filament would be a significant proportion of the fiver - the rest is _really_ simple. One standard TI chip does pretty much all the electronics. Battery, PCB, some passive components, some plastic - if they've got their manufacturing sorted that won't add up to that...

Some Info On The Freestyle Libre If Anyone Knows

There's always going to be a difference between what works and what is medically approved. xDrip, Spike etc are examples of this. Abbot aren't allowed to be anything but 100% careful about what they say, and we shouldn't denigrate them for doing so - but that doesn't stop others from trying the...

I've gone low in my sleep too many times. I'm loving having an alarm - based on libre.

My wife laughs at me for that. I start my new one as soon as it's on. They seem to work well from the start - it's towards the end of the two weeks things can start to read a bit low for me.

Can Eating To Much Dextrose Energy Be Bad For You

Personally I'd prefer to eat something tasty rather than straight sugar, eg the cyclists favourite, cake. Burning sugars via exercise is the ideal way to get those nice things into your life IMO - except you may want the cake before rather than after.

Cake in our house lives in the fridge because the fridge doesn't have mice. Re miaomiao charging - just hook yourself up every week or so while at a computer?

    Insulin Pen Damaged

I thought the fat thing was mostly about the physical absorption of the insulin - get any of the insulins directly in the blood and they'll act a lot faster, but there's a delay when they go into fatty tissue as it takes time for them to move out. It's also a much safer place to inject than a...

    Advice Needed Tresiba .

(googles) Is it a"Tresiba® FlexTouch® U‑200" pen? If so, dial up 52u on the pen - that'll give you 52u of insulin. The exact model of pen is quite important here - if it's not one of those, do not do that :-)

    Advice Needed Tresiba .

What pen is it? Is it the same pen as before, or is it a new pen calibrated for 200u insulin? Is it a disposable?

    Advice Needed Tresiba .

I think both the DSN and the chemist are saying the same thing, just in different ways. If you're using a pen or syringe calibrated for 100u/ml, then to get 52u from double strength 200u/ml you need to inject what is marked as 26u. What are you injecting with?
