    Wasted insulin

Does that "you'll really notice it" also apply to Novorapid?

    Type 1 Program

I'm sure you would - so we are assured that the communication channel from HO to here is working, even though nothing is being said. But what was their reaction when you said "people are asking questions"? Or did you just state that and not press for an answer? I'm not worked up, I'm just...

    Type 1 Program

Presumably you've been feeding back to HO that people are asking about this program, and are wondering what the status is? Are they saying anything more to you than "it's happening, just hold on"? Are any of them prepared to say something directly? In the absence of any communication apart from...

    Type 1 Program

I'll just add another quote from that same page : "Dr Richard Bernstein and Type1Grit are among the inspirations behind the program, as well as feedback from over 40,000 members of the Low Carb Program who have type 1 diabetes." If it ever happens, it's pretty obvious this program will be...

    Type 1 Program

If the problem is that you or DCUKmod don't know what's going on, it might be good to get somebody who does know what's going on to comment. Otherwise it might be a good idea especially given the time it's taken to have a rethink about the communications regarding it - complete secrecy is...

Today's walk was a bit sticky - much nicer when a bit of wind appeared, and the couple of drops of rain (no more), were ever so slightly refreshing. Normally I have chocolate-related things as my food on the go for walks, today it was time for the summer replacement, currently buttermintoes.

Back from hols, and have now caught up on 2 weeks of this thread. I think that was about 900 messages... Cycling round southern Scotland and northern England - tandem, camping, all up weight of bike + kit 60kg, and we did 840 miles. Quite chuffed. Record BSL of 26.something according to the...

    Is my basal correct?

Although the novopen echo is strictly only for the 3ml novo nordisk cartridges with the little plastic screw bit on the end, the Lantus 3ml cartridges appear to have identical dimensions, and I know the little plastic screwy bit can be pulled off an old novo cartridge and put on a Lantus one. I...

Is that you have to dress down because your normal dress is a little too extreme for it? :-)

Caught speeding whilst having a hypo

Re the ticket : take the speeding course if you're offered it, or pay the fixed penalty. Don't bother contesting it, and definitely don't mention hypo because though you may think it's an excuse for the speeding, it's also an excuse for getting your licence taken away. Re the hypo - you might...

Not sure it's that strange. They will be probably trying to ramp up production of libre 2 too. I expect the poor production engineers responsible for this will be having an interesting mix of happiness that they're selling as much as they can make, and stress as they try to keep up with demand :-)

Their problem is it's just too popular! There's a lot of diabetics out there, and the demand is massive, because despite the known problems, it's still a really good product for a lot of people. As they persuade governments or insurance companies to support it too (eg what happened in April for...

Opinions wanted from fellow type 1's

Testing is trivial (libre), hypos used to be a bit of a problem but alarms (miaomiao) have pretty much solved that, and injections have never been a problem. For me at the moment, the most tedious thing is managing sugar while exercising. You can't really stop long acting insulin, so I end up...

Buttercups season here. I once went for a walk to the pub in sandals through a very buttercuppy field, and ended up with yellow toes. Nettle season is going strong in our field now. During winter it's easy enough to cross, but after May if you want to go off the paths, better be wearing long...

Isn't the traditional trick to put it out of the front with a sign saying "For sale, £50", and see how long it is before it disappears? This apparently works better than "Free to a good home".

Haven't you seen the various documentaries? The Descent and The Cave both cover ways to lose weight underground quickly. (The Descent is as funny to cavers as Cliffhanger is to climbers :-) )

    Terrified about everything!

Welcome to the club :-) I've had quite a lot of severe hypos, all but one while asleep, and the worst I've had for after effects is a miserable headache and a very sore tongue from biting it. Normally my wife is around to bring me around, but I've had two while alone, and I still seem to be...

You never fall, even with a top rope? When I dabbled 25 years ago, I was completely unhappy about leading, but fine seconding - with a rope above, slipping isn't a problem. The tiny amount of bolted stuff I did was sort of between - I did fall off, but I trusted the bolts a lot more than a wonky...

It's not really an adrenaline sport, though fear of heights in a vertical cave or proper claustrophobia in a small cave may change that...). More a lot of scroffling through passages and going up and down ropes. Muddy, cold and wet rather than "Duuuude!". Unlike say climbing where you're...

My best tip for weight loss is to go caving. The last trip I did, 6 hours long, I think I was 1.5kg lighter at the end of it. Anybody pointing out that the traditional thing to do after caving is drink a lot of beer which will more than compensate for that will get ignored :-)
