Sorry to be a pain libre help

You can improve the accuracy of readings from the sensor by calibrating it with fingerstick readings. Android application Glimp does this, and also shows a nice zoomable, scrollable graph with insulin dosing. Makes it quick to see how much longer the last bolus is working for (if you set up...

Dexing my libre - blucon nightrider

The BlueCon website suggests that their device merely pushes BG readings from the Libre to your phone. Is there any reason to suppose it's changing them?

Help with choosing blood glucose meter

Some meters are much better than others. Here is a list of meters, and their performance: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3570840/

New to the forum, need Libre advice please!

I'd second the DAFNE course if you want to improve your control. It takes 5 days, and it's free, which is great value.

    Fixing Libre sensor

I don't bother with tape, unless I'm going on a hot bike ride and expect to sweat. Then I put a loop of micropore around my arm, over the sensor. Even if the adhesive detaches, it usually stays on. I've never noticed any problems from covering the hole.

    Freestyle Libre App v Reader

I use Linux, Android, Glimp, the Libre app and the reader. Usually Glimp and the hand-held reader. The one weakness of the Libre app is I haven't been able to print or email PDF reports; for that reason I still prefer the standalone reader. I boot into OSx and run the Freestyle software from...

    DAFNE

I think most people get a lot out of the course. Upside is better control of BG, easier to manage your diet and better understanding of your diabetes. Downside is what... a week in a course?

    FreeStyle Libre - New user

Fraid the rules are that insulin-dependent diabetics should test with a finger-stick before driving. Your GP may ask you whether you do, as mine did before licence renewal.

    Snacking

This may not be relevant, but snacks which boost your BG rapidly can leave you wanting another when your BG comes down later. If so, try foods with a lower glycaemic index. Meals too. Raw vegetables?

I am developing a Diabetes App, help me

Instead of building a standalone app, how about building add-ons for other open-source apps? Estimating sensitivities would be really useful, but why not save some work and make it more widely useful by using data from one of the other projects such as Nightscout? Btw if you Google you'll...

A recent article on the consequences of restricted carbohydrate diets for T1D children

If there were calorific differences between the diets then it isn't a strict comparison of low-carb and normal.

Any one else have a GP like this?

Ask your GP to prescribe Glucogel - single doses of 15g or 35g of carbohydrate. It's the fastest acting ingestible carbohydrate. Tastes great if you're low, otherwise unappetising. Really useful to keep by the bed in case you go low.

Do the doctors there prescribe ACEI's to you?

My previous endocrinologist Ariel Lant at the Chelsea & Westminster published some of the original research on Ace inhibitors in the 80s; I've been on Lisinopril since 1987 I think.

Diane Abbott blames type 2 for her poor performance.

This is how some in the gay community used to react to political activism in the gay rights movement. Easy to reject what you don't like in yourself.

    Diane Abbott T2

I picked up this thread because Henry Mance, the Financial Times' Political Correspondent, discussing the aggressive level of political debate, opined that: 'Diane Abbott inspires little sympathy... She would have inspired more critics had she simply admitted her failure to prepare'. He hasn't...

    Diane Abbott T2

The issue is that the employee has rights. But if they choose not to use them, the employer is absolved of responsibility. And typically they do, because of the consequences for their careers. For these rights to be meaningful, the employer would have to be responsible for failures, like H&S.

    Diane Abbott T2

That's grand but the issue is that people may not take them. And if not, the employer is in the clear.

Lots of those sorts of legal requirements were more honoured in the breach than the observance at all my employers.
