    Dawn Phenomena

At the moment, I am on a set dose as prescribed, but I have done some slight adjustment (not always successfully) if I am eating quite a lot of carbs. I will be moving to the United States in August and will connect with an endocrinologist and dietician to formulate a nutrition plan with carb...

    Dawn Phenomena

I am fairly new (diagnosed t1 in March, 2016) and would like some advice. About 25% of the time my morning bg is higher than when I test before going to bed and this is happening with more frequency. It is not at all crazy out of control, but I am wondering if it indicates that my Lantus (6...

    Anxiety and blood sugar

I am struggling with anxiety and severe adrenaline surges lasting for several hours at a time. I am noticing many more hypos and wonder if there is a correlation with the adrenaline that makes me go low. Often the low is very sudden and I am not aware until it us considerably low. I am trying...

Why Cutting Carbs From Your Diet Is A Bad Move

I just read the article and find it complete rubbish. The part about being low energy and cranky with low carb is just the opposite on how I feel on low carb. Thanks to advice on this site I am eating better and feeling better. Sent from my iPad using DCUK Forum

    Low unawareness

I just had a very sudden low without any warning. It happened so quickly and I almost passed out before I realized what was happening. Fortunately, I was home and able to think clearly enough to get something to eat when I just wanted to fall on the floor and stay there. Not to be overly...

    Eating Out

Thanks for the advice. I am a fairly new diabetic (diagnosed in March) and will certainly ask for substations as suggested. I recently went to a wonderful Mexican restaurant where they served tortilla chips and there ended my willpower. I threw them down like a hog ;) and then was...

    Is anyone taking antidepressants?

Unfortunately, mental illness is still stigmatized by so many who think it is a character flaw or something you can just will yourself out of. I still feel uncomfortable admitting that I have bipolar and am selective on who knows. It makes me uncomfortable to even write the word bipolar, but I...

    New here. Type1.

I found the app DiabetesConnect (there are others apps too) that has a feature where you can set times for it to send you a reminder on your phone or ipad. Also, I asked my husband and friends to please ask me if I have checked bs and injected especially at meal times and if I am acting more ;)...

How long does body take to adjust to low sugar levels?

I can't say if it is normal or not, but I can tell you that it is sometimes like that for me too. I will feel quite low and sometime I am and other times I will be 100-120. Now, I know that bs needs to be checked, as you have done, to know if it really is low. I was just diagnosed March 2016...

    Diabetes itchy skin

I itched like crazy on my elbows when I was first diagnosed (T1) and I thought perhaps it was an insulin reaction. Now that my bs has come down to more reasonable levels the itching and dry skin has become much less severe. Sent from my iPad using DCUK Forum

    Depression

Depression sucks, no doubt about that. It is overwhelming when you feel down and it is hard as heck, but make yourself do something. Maybe that is joining a group as suggested or going for a walk. It doesn't matter what you do, but do something. When I feel down, it is tempting to lay on the...

    I am totally frustrated!

I have found that eating cereal really raises my bs too. I have tried several thinking that perhaps a granola type labeled "natural" (which means nothing) would be better, but after 1/2 cup without milk, my bs spiked like crazy. Snack cereal bars gave the same result. Fortunately, I have...

Type 1 diagnosis - test results

Catapillar, Thank you for your answer, that is helpful for my understanding. Another question, if you don't mind. At 3000, did that indicate that your beta cells were complete destroyed and how did you physically feel at that point?
