    It was a non-fasting test. LDL 5.1 (131mg/dl. HDL 2.4 (62mg/dl) I'm still confused. . . .

    OK, thanks. It seems to me that the current thinking about high Cholesterol is different to what it used to be, ie we should not be unduly worried as long as we have no other high-risk factors - what do you think?

    Yes, I have lost weight, about half a stone, but I was only 8st. 10lbs. to start with - am now 7st. 12lbs. and have been stable for several months.

    Hello everyone. Can someone please explain why, having been on a low carb. high (healthy) fat diet for the past 10 months, my blood sugar levels are now in the normal range (I had been diagnosed as being pre-diabetic) but my cholesterol is now 8!!?? Help!

    Hi Jo - yes, coincidence indeed! You are right in that my post code in France (Midi-Pyrenées) 81170, is my user name. We lived in the Tarn, about an hour north of Toulouse. So much has changed in UK after 11 years but we'll adapt! Might try yoga or pilates but walking in the countryside helps.

    But my normal eating pattern has been LCHF for several months now and it has become second nature. My stomach has to be obeyed when it becomes demanding!! ;) Thanks for your advice though :)

    Hi, and thank you - much harder than I thought . . . I exercise every day, a brisk thirty or forty minute walk in the country which also lifts my spirits! and yes, my levels fall after walking. Not sleeping very well so I suppose that doesn't help either.
