Type 2 Newbie T2 overwhelmed by diet change

That's great to hear your blood sugars dropped fast. I've gone to virtually no carbs in one hit. I'm eating mainly chicken/beef and cauliflower/broccoli and I have almost constant hunger. This is Hell on Earth.

Type 2 Newbie T2 overwhelmed by diet change

Thank you. I'll try not to let it bother me. I don't know how any of you manage the minefield of balancing the various food groups. This is completely beyond my understanding as there are so many variables involved, not to mention different GI/GL carbs (not indicated on the packaging) and the...

Type 2 Newbie T2 overwhelmed by diet change

Apologies for being MIA for a few days but work things got in the way. I work in broadcast news and there was some major event in the UK on Thursday :). I'd like to thank everyone who's contributed. In particular @Norfolkmell's post quoted here. I was disturbed to read from @Alwyn that on a...

Type 2 Newbie T2 overwhelmed by diet change

Thank you Daibell. I have to be a bit careful with fats as I apparently also have high cholesterol. The GP wants to address that later. I'm not very knowledgeable about food groups but I suspect I'm facing a steep learning curve. I appreciate the warning about NHS dieticians. I assumed they'd...

Type 2 Newbie T2 overwhelmed by diet change

Thank you for your reply Brunneria. I think the extra veg route is the way to go. I can probably manage that. I do like the idea of cauliflower cheese as a potato substitute. I'll investigate Burgen as an alternative to my usual brown bread.

Type 2 Newbie T2 overwhelmed by diet change

I've recently been diagnosed with T2 and apart from my GP advising me to cut out sugar, reduce bread intake, and take more exercise, I've not received any professional advice about diet. I'm seeing my GP again next week and I'll request a dietician referral. My eating habits to date haven't...
  7. Captain Crunch

    Hello everyone

Thanks Brunneria and Rachox, I think I will attempt the low carb option. I went out for a small groceries shop this morning and it took much longer than usual as I was studying the nutritional info :). My GP didn't mention anything about carbs, only to severely reduce sugar intake. This site...
  8. Captain Crunch

    Hello everyone

Hi. My name's Ed and I was diagnosed with T2D yesterday (7th Dec 2019). I'm currently taking 500mg Metformin, due to increase to 1000mg in a week's time. This diagnosis has come as quite a shock to me and there's a bewildering amount of information to try to assimilate. I hope to pick up some...
