Latest HbA1c - Thrilled to bits!!

Thank you Rachox. I'm also hoping mine will drop below 40. For now, 48 will do. I'm on cloud 9!! :D Congrats on getting yours down and keeping it fairly stable. I'm sure you're still working continually to keep it that way. We can't let our guard down for a second!!

Latest HbA1c - Thrilled to bits!!

I've just had the result of my latest HbA1c test and I got 48 :D. I'm so thrilled about that and my GP is also delighted. My diagnostic value two months ago was 73 so the 48 includes about a month's worth of my previous high-carb diet. To say this has lifted my spirits knowing that the...

Poll: Which diabetes course(s) have you attended?

My GP has apparently put my name forward for a DESMOND course. This wasn't offered though. I had to request it after learning of its existence through my own research. Reading some of the earlier responses here, it would appear that some GPs aren't really that clued up on the dietary...

Has anyone come across this website

I could have used this a few weeks back when things were... reluctant... to get moving. It's OK now :D

    Crying

@CazzaW Nothing to add other than to express my disbelief at your doctor and to reiterate what others have said about your diet for the past three weeks not having a major impact on your HbA1c due to more than two months being on your previous diet. Don't despair. If your day-to-day personal...

My 5.9 figure comes from assorted readings both pre- and postprandial. I've rarely been above 5.9 but have started to creep into the 6's occasionally recently due to relaxing my previous zero-carbs regime a little. My levels seem to generally drop back down to the upper 4's/lower 5's 3-4 hours...

Fair enough. I feel that 5.9g carbs per 40g portion is reasonable and it's way lower than any other comparable product. Ultimately it's a personal choice though. No-one's forcing it down anyone's neck :p

You're welcome. I'd just about given up on finding a reasonably low-carb breakfast cereal. They're all stuffed with carbs, even the so-called 'healthy' ones. I stumbled upon this one purely by chance and it's by far the lowest carb cereal I've seen so I had to share :).

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

    5.5 @ 07:25. Lower than I expected as I was 7.0 3hr postprandial last night.

That's great to hear you're getting to grips with your T1. I'm T2 and I fully get the 'mentally challenging, draining and exhausting' part. I have moments where I literally weep with the relentlessness of having to be constantly aware of what I eat. Having said that, I've been testing my blood...

If you're looking for a 'traditional' cereal and like granola, I recently discovered this little beauty at 5.9g carbs per 40g portion. Have it with unsweetened almond milk and you won't add any more carbs. If you're in the UK, it's stocked by Sainsbury's and Waitrose.
