Just started Novorapid - hypo after eating?

Thank you so much, this is so reassuring! I was dreading another day to be honest - it’s like a full time job keeping my blood sugar up or normal. I’m grateful I have the Bubble with the Libre now so I can monitor all the time with my phone and have alerts. I’m finding even small walks can cause...

Just started Novorapid - hypo after eating?

I spoke to a nurse yesterday and she said it sounds like the honeymoon period for me too - she doesn’t know what to do with me, possibly take me off Novorapid completely. We agreed on reducing lunch and dinner to 1 unit and keep breakfast at 2 units as that seems to be alright. So I had one unit...

Type 1.5 Bubble for Libre - how to set up alerts?

Thanks, it’s all set up now. I’m not very techy!

Just started Novorapid - hypo after eating?

Thanks, I’m glad I’m not the only one eating Jelly baby heads :) Yes, have four for a hypo but finding that biscuits or chocolate take too long to give a rise but the odd jelly baby part has been working I think. It would be nice if I just sat at a 5 or 6 but that’s never happening, just plummets!

Just started Novorapid - hypo after eating?

Thanks, current issue (one of many) is dropping soon after eating waiting for digestion I guess. For example I ate half an hour ago, novorapid 15 mins before then, and now dropping again. If I get lower (but not hypo low) should I have a jelly baby and wait for the lunch to raise my blood...

Type 1.5 Bubble for Libre - how to set up alerts?

Hi, does anyone else have a Bubble for the Libre? I’m trying to work out how to set alerts on the Diabox app but my Bubble didn’t come with its instruction booklet and struggling to find info online. Thanks!

Just started Novorapid - hypo after eating?

Haha yes, trying to keep stable blood sugar just now is like nailing jelly to a wall. Off for a walk as for no good reason I’ve shot up to 10 over five hours after a lunch which I was low before. Never happened before. Not eaten since so who knows what’s gone wrong this time. I talk to it all...

I have diabetes, don’t know what type.

Hi there, I’m LADA - diagnosed with diabetes early January and put on Gliclazide (eventually up to max dose) awaiting results which took a month. I’m now taking insulin. There’s a LADA board on here with questions/replies that may help too. Like you I was healthy, fit, no family history etc so I...

Just started Novorapid - hypo after eating?

Thanks for replying, it’s very kind. Yes, I’m hoping it gets easier once the honeymoon period finishes but also a bit torn as it feels comforting, sadly not hopeful, that my pancreas is still having the odd splutter. I guess I’ll have to keep testing and learning and hopefully have the odd day...

Just started Novorapid - hypo after eating?

Thanks, I’m wondering whether my basal is correct. I’m waking slightly higher the last few days (around 8) but I’ve also been higher at bedtime and not sure if that’s related/connected? Hopefully the nurse will point me in the right direction, she’s used to me leaving garbled panicky messages on...

Just started Novorapid - hypo after eating?

Thanks, I had forgotten about that book - will read up on bolus and carb counting. There’s so much to learn and I’m trying not to be a perfectionist as it just doesn’t seem to be going to plan! Dinner last night didn’t go well, spaghetti, and ended up pretty high. Seems like I have a lot of...

Just started Novorapid - hypo after eating?

Haha, I’ve not really got much of a sweet tooth and never particularly liked Jelly Babies. My kids are always trying to steal them though. Is it possible I need less bolus at lunch than other times? I seem to be pretty high 3-4 hours after dinner but that tends to be the most carby meal of the...

Just started Novorapid - hypo after eating?

Thanks everyone, ended up with high reading last night 3.5 hours after dinner and bit higher reading than I’d like when I woke up. Now low again before lunch. The blood sugar has been dropping so had some peanuts and cheese, down again so had a Rich tea biscuit. Down again (not hypo levels, now...

Just started Novorapid - hypo after eating?

Yes, I’m wondering if I’m a bit lower today as I lowered my Tresiba yesterday but it can take a few days to show the change with that can’t it? Before I started the bolus regime my nurse said to have a piece of toast before bed if I was less than 8, and last night I suddenly panicked - will the...

Just started Novorapid - hypo after eating?

Thanks, there’s so much learning with this isn’t there! I stood frozen to the spot with a piece of toast in my hand wondering if I was allowed it last night before bed! x

Just started Novorapid - hypo after eating?

Thanks, yes - moving to carb counting next week but my nurse wanted to see how the 2 units worked for me. I’m now high on jelly babies ugh

Just started Novorapid - hypo after eating?

Hi, I just started bolus yesterday, 2 units Novorapid before meals and my Tresiba basal has reduced to 3 units from 6. Yesterday my numbers were fairly good but today had a hypo (3.2) one hour after eating lunch (chicken mayo brown bread sandwich) Does anyone know why this happened? Thanks

    Advice please

Hi there, poor you - what a horrible time to get a diabetes diagnosis and not really be told what’s happening and what to do. I’m late onset type 1 and was given a meter in January and tested four times a day, and told to check for keotones when blood sugar went over 13 (which it very often did)...

    Newly diagnosed

Hi there, I’m a late onset T1 and pretty slim too. I was diagnosed with diabetes in January and took a month to find out I was type 1, then a delay taking insulin as I went low carb (got good blood sugar numbers but lost too much weight) and confused things for the nurses. I’m only taking basal...
