I have 3 small tubes of dextrogel that my DN gave me but haven't used them yet. She advised me to get some of the tiny cans of pop, which i have done and used to good effect. I did have emergency jelly babies but found they all clumped together in a sticky mess as i hadn't needed to use them!

I would discuss this with your GP, diabetes clinic or diabetic nurse. It could be related to your high blood sugars, but there again it could be something completely unrelated. Best to get it checked out though.

I was also told my type when i had my first son. I am however being typed again as i'm having an angiogram and possible angioplasty in a few weeks and may need a transfusion.

Anna, my DN suggested i get those small cans of pop you can use as a mixer to treat hypos. Im sure they'd sell them in the big 'ol US of A! To carry my kit about i use a large pencil case that i then put in my handbag, would something like that work?

Very interesting question :D Like others have said i feel i am learning every day. I don't think i'm that experienced. I do however have an interest in diabetes and my own care. My new DN said i am her most knowledgeable patient. I have learnt an awful lot from reading around on the subject...

I was on Tramadol SR and didn't notice any effect on my BG readings.
