Meaning of carbohydrate "of which sugars"

Looks like you're relying on the old assumption that the simple sugars (such as glucose) can only be removed by digestion from the ends of the chains in starches. More recent recent research has shown that any slowdown is due to the TYPES of links between the simple sugars in the chain, not...

    intestine problems

One intestine problem I have noticed is constipation if you have too many meals with dairy products but not enough with at least one green vegetable but no dairy products. Most dairy products are high in calcium. Most green vegetables, especially leaves, are high in magnesium. If you have...

    Evil Cheese?????

I've found that if you have dairy products, such as cheese, at EVERY meal, you are likely to get a painful level of constipation. It seems that the intestines cannot absorb both calcium and magnesium from the same meal, and will absorb only the calcium if you had both. Magnesium is needed if...

    Carbs + Sugar Confusion

The old idea that the length of carbohydrate chains always made the longer chains slower to digest has been shown to be incorrect. The types of links between the simple sugars in the chains has much more effect on the speed of digestion. Each type of digestive enzyme for carbohydrates can...

    In-flight Meals!

Recipes called diabetic are usually based on the obsolete idea that diabetics should avoid sugar and make their meals low-fat, but high in starches. Research finally showed that starches do not break down only at the ends of their chains, but the digestive enzymes are specific the the types of...

    In-flight Meals!

The airlines seldom want to offer low carb as one of the choices, because it is more expensive to prepare.

    In-flight Meals!

The low carb meals that are best for type 2 tend to be enough more expensive to prepare that not many airlines offer them.

    Swollen hands/legs/feet

I got swollen legs after a doctor prescribed too much medicine for lowering my blood pressure. The very low blood pressure almost shut down my kidneys.

    Dizziness and loss of balance

Letting your blood pressure get too low can cause loss of balance. For me, it was down to 90/60 (US measurement).

Newby retired firefighter requires rescue programme

Something else to avoid - called corn here in the US, but probably maize in your country. The price of a meter is usually much less important than the price of the matching strips, and who will pay for the strips.

Newly diagnosed with Type 2 but doctor said he couldn’t rule out type 1

The tests needed to tell the difference between type 1 and type 2 are rather slow, so this is probably a guess based on which is more common at your age. It's likely to take a few weeks to complete those tests. Just to add to the confusion there's also type 1 and type 2 at the same time...

Anyone know what might be up with me?

I find that I usually vomit (although without nausea) only if eating something dry while my throat is also dry makes me cough continuously. The main thing that helps is drinking some liquid often enough to keep my throat moist. Does your nausea also keep you from drinking any liquids?

How often should I use a fresh lancet?

I've been on a diabetes newsgroup where many people recommended changing the lancet once a year, unless it feel dull earlier. Exception - ALWAYS change it before and after someone else uses it.
