    gliclazide and itchyness

Best of luck! Once the itching has stopped, you forget what a nuisance it was! It drove me mad, I saw gp a few times about it but it was the consultant that said yes it can cause that. Took about 2 weeks after stopping for me to notice fully that I was no longer scratching at my skin! Bliss...

    Making insulin but positive antibodies

Thankyou for taking the time to reply, that is really interesting. Sounds a bit similar to me, if I take nothing to help squeeze out insulin then my levels climb steadily. Now I’m taking the lowest dose but I’m dropping too low at times. I eat reduced carbs but don’t carb count or cut anything...

    Type 2 Headache and Nausea

It is horrible to have that unwell feeling what feels like every day! I totally sympathise as I have had the same thing for past year. I felt unwell when blood sugars where too high, then put on metformin. Oh dear my poor tummy! Plus had the feeling of being very very green! Then went to slow...

    Making insulin but positive antibodies

That’s very helpful thankyou! I have just emailed the diabetes endocrinology department asking for them to send me copies of test results. Hopefully they do so I can see some numbers...not that they will mean much to me hehe. I asked for these tests to be done nearly 2 years ago when I felt I...

    Empagliflozin

That’s an amazing weight loss over a fairly short period of time. I too got the unwanted side effect of yeast in my urine! Not fun! When I saw the specialist diabetes nurse she said to me it needs treating straight away and then monitoring so you can continue to take the medication without...

    Making insulin but positive antibodies

Thankyou, that is helpful information. I would say I do have symptoms of diabetes. If I don’t take any meds my blood sugar levels just rise over the weeks, up to 24s. I’m now taking Repaglinide and after 4 weeks I’m between 3.2-6.9 most days.

    Making insulin but positive antibodies

That would make sense, thankyou. I just found it really confusing, like he wouldn’t say what type I am. Repeated that I do make enough insulin, but that I’ve shown positive antibodies. That with time I may need insulin, like if I got an infection and became unwell, lost weight and very high...

    Making insulin but positive antibodies

Hello Can anyone help with the latest news from my consultant, it’s left me confused and feeling a bit low! I was referred to consultant after 1.5 years of various meds but increasing blood sugars levels and hba1c going up and up. Gestational, prediabeic despite all my efforts 2 years ago was...

    gliclazide and itchyness

Hello, yes I did experience this! It was very itchy on my neck, back, chest and lower arms. Sometimes could see few red dots but on whole not much of an obvious rash just intense itching every day! Then would fade a bit then start again. Went drs few times and all said stay on it until saw Endo...

    High reading

Before I was on meds and was prediabetic I too have dropped too low but it was only when I’d had to fast, or not eat for a longer period of time than I was used to, like before an operation and not allowed to eat. I would get the shaky hands feel sweaty etc and they tested and gave me a dextrose...

Gestational diabetes monitoring for the last two weeks

I had gestational diabetes twice, one I diet controlled and one I ended up needing insulin towards the end. I think things can change quite quickly in pregnancy anyways so I felt happy going with the advice of the diabetes midwives and diabetes consultants. Growth scans are a good way of them...

    Background Retinopathy

Oh sorry I see from your original post you are saying as it’s been ten plus years of these tests they still say on the letter you get through afterwards that you have background retinopathy yet when you ask to be shown they say they can’t see any sign of it?! That is strange! I had no idea...

    Background Retinopathy

Oh hmm no my letters where different each time. One with the results for each eye and plan of action, like review or referral. This time with no background retinopathy it stated that and had the results for each eye.

    High reading

Hi, when high I tend to drink lots water...not sure if it does much as it can take hours and hours for levels to fall back down. A walk outside maybe but not much more as tend to feel lethargic and unwell. When too low I reach for a jelly baby.

    Looking for advice on metformin.

Hello, I think the diabetes nurse or dr should re test your hba1c at three monthly intervals to gauge how the metformin is helping? If it is a good level then you could maybe discuss stopping it? My nurse warned me that my blood sugars would go back up if I stopped, which I thought was...

    Background Retinopathy

Hello, yes I too had my first eye screening letter telling me I had background retinopathy. (Which I wasn’t expecting, as only been told diabetic few months before) then had it a year later, with the letter saying all fine. So yes it can come and go. Saw optician too for usual eye test and they...

    confused by my GP

Oh dear I’m sorry you have had such a useless appointment with the GP! I had low Vit D picked up from blood test after I went to GP complaining of very weary achy legs. Feeling tired out climbing the stairs etc. Mine was 39, and the DR said leave it and go buy some vit d from the pharmacy, that...

Repaglinide and hypos how best to treat?

Ah ok yes, they’ve started me on the lowest dose I think with review to see if needed more. It sure will be needing more! I’m currently around 4-7 which for me is amazing. I did look at the tablets there’s no line just a R on them and they are tiny! Think contraceptive pill tiny! I currently...

Repaglinide and hypos how best to treat?

Yes! So far when I’ve gone too low it’s been at home with the kids around. They are oblivious! But manage to sniff out jellybabies fast and arrive at my side asking for them too. I think I’m in a panic to feel ok and not alarm anyone. I have tried explaining to them a bit about diabetes and if...
