Hi [emoji846] They don’t look very nice either! Thank you I will go for the jelly babies - and make sure that he has the right amount to avoid a spike. Also going to try the sports drink - what ml would you recommend to cover the right amount of glucose?

Type 1 New Ideas For Hypo Treatment For 11 Year Old

Hi, Yes I think I will get jelly babies and the non-fizzy sports drinks for him to try. Thank you, I will make sure he doesn’t over treat with more jelly babies than he should have and avoid a spike [emoji846] We go on holiday next week, all his snacks and hypo treatment I will have to buy once...

Type 1 New Ideas For Hypo Treatment For 11 Year Old

Hi, My son follows a hypo treatment with a plain biscuit once his levels are out of hypo zone - rich tea or malted milk. I have tried him with the Dextrose he doesn’t like them or the different flavoured GlucoTabs, just the orange flavour which he always has. I tried him with the glucogel (if...

Type 1 New Ideas For Hypo Treatment For 11 Year Old

Hiya, yes I can imagine they aren’t nice, he didn’t mind them at first but that hypo this morning while he was still sleeping makes me think he could have something better now! Thanks - I will give jelly babies to him next time, I just wasn’t sure on how many [emoji846] he knows that he can’t...

Hi yes he will drink lucozade and the other non fizzy sports drinks I’m just confused to how much he will need to have for the right amount of fast acting glucose? 200ml? He likes the idea of jelly babies [emoji39] 4-5 I will try that for him. We’ve always been told to follow up with slow...

Type 1 New Ideas For Hypo Treatment For 11 Year Old

Hello! So we’re almost 9 weeks in to diagnosis, my son is 11 and type 1. So far he’s only ever taken the glucose tablets when treating a hypo but he complained about them for the first time at 6am this morning when I tested him and he was hypo (and half asleep!) [emoji42] [emoji28] So I’m...

    Hi Parents

Hi, No unfortunately he’s not massively in to sports, he just likes the odd game of football with his friends. He’s out on his bike or scooter a lot of the time though. If he was offered one funded I would definitely make sure he trials it as I think he’ll be better off with one. I think...

    Hi Parents

Yes I wouldn’t have believed it either! Jayden has never woke up in the night while hypo to let me know, he sweats quite badly which is a clear sign to me he’s hypo. He is hypo aware while awake which is a big help, he knows as soon as he feels funny and lets me/school know. Exactly, you worry...

    Hi Parents

I’ve heard mixed reviews about the Freestyle Libre. Is is available on the NHS as your son is so young? Yes I check him in the night pretty much once a night. I check him a couple of times If his reading is low before bedtime. Plus if below 6 before Bed he has a plain biscuit.

    Hi Parents

Yes that is a bit of a drive away, we’re in Manchester :) Thank you so much [emoji2][emoji2]

    Hi Parents

Where’s that? Yes I will speak to him. I know exactly what you mean as mine and Jaydens relationship has gone from strength to strength since his diagnosis it’s certainly made our bond stronger, we make a great team I think [emoji2]

    Hi Parents

Yes possibly.. I suppose I could talk to him about it and see what he thinks. He’d probably enjoy himself too, if like to do something like that so maybe if I do speak to him he may consider it. I know two other women who’s sons are also type 1 so we speak about it which helps :)

    Hi Parents

Hi, Yes it is such a young age, my son was 10 when diagnosed and turned 11 last week. I pretty much manage all of his carb counting but he does his own finger pricks and injections, even his Basal at night - very proud of how far he’s come in such a short time. Does your son have the Expert...

    Hi Parents

Thank you - we’re doing good, it’s all so new but we have had mainly good days so far.. Sorry to hear about your poorly daughter, I hope she has a speedy recovery. I’ve not experienced coping with T1 & sickness as of yet but I have read up on it for when the time comes. I have also read up on...

    Hi Parents

Hi, Yes the clinic advertise family days for T1’s but with my son just turning 11 he won’t be up for doing things like that unfortunately! :( It was more for me to speak to other parents in my situation, I have told my son I’m on here and hopefully he’ll get on himself in the next few years...

    Hi Parents

Hello, I’m just wondering how many parents with children that are type 1 are on here? How are you both coping/dealing with things? Just reaching out to other parents in my situation and would be great to discuss :) My son, Jayden was diagnosed 8 weeks ago. Janelle

I guess it won’t be for everyone :) all though I have bought some for myself and my son (who is type 1) knowing he can have low-carb pizza and we make other things too. I agree, it is over priced but not too bad if you only buy it every other week [emoji4]
