    Newly diagnosed and feeling low

Hi Kielee I am fairly newly diagnosed and I know how confusing it all is at the beginning. You feel very vulnerable and as though you've been left to fend for yourself but rest assured you have come to the right place for advice. I've got by BG down from 20 to high 5's low 6's in just over 2...

    Late onset Type 1

I had the weight loss (about a stone and a half) and then I stopped smoking and was eating like it was an Olympic event. I couldn't understand why I was staying the same weight. Thanks for the reply and going to take a list with me when I next go and see the nurse and am not being rushed out...

    Late onset Type 1

When I was first diagnosed the nurse said she wasn't sure if I had type 2 or late onset type 1. What are the differences between the 2 symptom wise and how will they test?

Re: Flu jab 2010. I contacted my local Asda and was told their vaccine didn't contain the swine flu but when I contacted head office I got the following response:

    Newly Diagnosed

Hi Laura and welcome to the forum I am newly diagnosed with type 2 also and the first thing I thought was thank god it's sugar I have to cut down on as I can take it or leave it. I was gutted when I found out it was carbs as well but to be honest it isn't as bad as you think once you get into...

what figures should I aim for?

Thanks for the replies and the good advice. I got a 5.3 this morning before lunch which was fab and have treated myself to my first slice of bread in a week to see what it does to my BG. I'm still not there with the morning reading but am getting there after meals. I don't know what I would...

what figures should I aim for?

Sorry for asking so many questions at the moment but have been pretty much left on my own by the docs and nurses and don't have another appointment till the 27th October. I have reduced my BG considerably with reducing/cutting out carbs over the last 9 days and have really enjoyed seeing the...

    Silicone Medical ID Bracelets

I've just ordered and received 2 silicone bracelets from (custom-silicone-wristbands.net) which is UK based and am impressed. I looked around but most of the sites I looked at had a minimum order but this one didn't. I ordered a purple and a green band personalised on both sides, although I...

    Eyesite has changed again.

Am thinking of ringing the nurse tomorrow as I can't wear my glasses today as it's like I've put somebody else's on. I've worn glasses since I was 13 and am now 42 and my eyes don't change often. My BG is down to around 8 but today I can't see the pc (about 12 inches from my nose at the mo)...

    Eyesite has changed again.

Prior to being diagnosed even with my glasses my long site was very blurry and annoying. This has now returned to normal but now my short site has gone blurry. Is this normal and will it go back to normal eventually?

    Your suggestions please

I'm a new member and don't want to rock the boat early but thought I would give my opinion. I have found it confusing as to which forum to post a thread in as some of them seem the same to me. Diabetes Discussions, Ask a Question and The Diabetes Soapbox could perhaps all be under Diabetes...

    Footcare .. what can and can't I do ...

I've been reading up on foot care for diabetics and just wondered what is your regime for looking after your feet. I have started to moisturise my feet nightly and use a file to get rid of any hard skin on my heels. I also have psoriatic arthritis in my feet which has caused problems with my...

    Metformin doseage

Thanks All Tablet it is then. I don't mind taking them if they are necessary but having already gone through the system with my arthritis I know how easily the doctors throw out pills to make you go away.

    iphone apps

Hi Sue The one I was looking at was 'carbs and cals' which is £4.99. I've downloaded a couple of the free ones and they are basically just calculators and don't tell you how many carbs are in food.

    Metformin doseage

I'm newly diagnosed and started with a BG of 20. I was prescribed Metformin 500mg with 1/day in the morning for 2 weeks increasing to 2/day am and pm. I am testing before and 2 hours after a meal and have started a very low carb diet to get my BG down asap. My BG for the last 3 days has gone...
