    Card after receiving vaccine?

I got a card, similar size to a credit card, and was told not to lose it, and to keep it in my wallet with my credit cards. It doesn't have my name on it. It simply has the name of the vaccine, the batch number and the date given. It has a space for entering details when I have my second vaccine.

    Type 2 Retesting for diagnosis

Hi, they only normally do a second test a week or two later if there is some doubt about the first, usually because it is borderline diabetic. My first HbA1c was 52 with no symptoms, considered borderline, so a second one was done and came back at 53. My diagnosis was therefore confirmed. This...

Has anyone young from Group 6 been contacted for a covid vaccine yet?

The extra money paid isn't for the GP's own pockets. It is for the Practice, which all helps them provide better services for their patients

Has anyone young from Group 6 been contacted for a covid vaccine yet?

Same here. The GP's went out and did them all in a day or two.

    AstraZeneca vaccine

I had the Astra-Zeneca vaccine on morning of 6th Feb. Felt nothing. I wasn't even sure she had given it to me. At bedtime that evening I felt some weird twinges in my head and decided the expected headache was starting. I hit the pillow and fell straight to sleep. Halfway through the night I...

    Just been told to shield

Do you have access to your GP medical records on line? If you are in England it is very likely you would have if you ask to be registered for this. It is possible your GP has coded you with some sort of kidney disease due to the stones. A look at these records would tell you.

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Yes, I suppose they could. On my on-line records the "problems" are in 3 parts. Current, Past (significant) and Past (Minor). The coding for the kidney disease is in the Past (significant) section, so is my broken tibia and fibula, which happened in 1950 when I was 2 years old!!

Covid and Work, Covid Advice and General Chat

Unfortunately, once a diagnosis is made and coded on medical records, if it was a correct diagnosis at the time, then it remains on the medical records and won't get deleted. It has happened to me. Not gestational diabetes, but kidney disease. 8 years ago I was on chemotherapy, and kidney...

Tomorrow may not be as good as far as sore arm etc is concerned.

    Covid vaccine

This was posted on my GP surgery's Facebook page. By 12th February, we had together vaccinated over 7,800 people in the nationally agreed cohorts 1 to 4. We now have the opportunity to roll the vaccine out to the over 65’s and the clinically vulnerable. This is a large group, so how soon we...

    Self testing

That is a good plan, but use it alongside some sort of food diary and record your levels next to that meal. This will show you if your meal was suitable or not, then watch for trends. I used to put all parts of the meal down including any sauces/gravies, and counted the grams in the carbs in...

Taking Metformin, and no dietary changes.

I'm afraid that Metformin only helps to a limited extent and needs to be taken in conjunction with a suitable diet. In our case, a suitable diet must have reduced carbs. It is correct that it works by reducing the amount of glucose your liver releases, and it can improve sensitivity to insulin...

    Cholesterol

Our total cholesterol is HDL + LDL + 40% of the trigs. 40% of your trigs are 5.52. (If my maths are correct) Therefore it is possible your figures are correct. You need a re-test, and if the figures are similar, then your doctor should be referring you to a specialist...

Covid could be causing diabetes - news report

I imagine most of those patients were on heavy dose steroids during their hospital treatment. Could this be a major reason?

    Getting HBA1C Tested during Covid

I missed my 6 month check last June due to Covid. Next one was due December. I received a letter from my GP in November asking me to make an appointment for my blood check, which I did very easily by ringing the receptionist. I had the test a few days later and the results appeared on my on-line...

    Confused about readings

Just a quick question ....... extra salt is important if you cut your carbs and processed foods. We need it to survive. Not everyone is "salt sensitive" as far as blood pressure is concerned. I'm not. Do you konw if your BP would rise if you added salt?

Type 2 Lower blood sugar but high cholesterol

You don't get unless you ask! In my experience doctors tend to filter out any information they think we won't understand or don't need to know. I learned several years ago never to accept what is said verbally but to ask for written reports, lab test results, and so forth. I believe it is...
