Newly diagnosed, is it really RH?

Hello and welcome. I can't help you, but I know someone who can @Lamont D

Type 2 Lower blood sugar but high cholesterol

Are you in England? If so your test results are most likely on line but you have to register for this at your surgery. In the UK you are entitle to paper print outs of all your test results. You can phone the surgery and ask for this. No need to wait until you see your doctor again.

Yes, I agree it would help us to help you if you could share your full cholesterol results (HDL, LDL, and triglycerides)

    Surprising A1C score

Has this happened before on previous HbA1c tests? If you have some sort of abnormal haemoglobin cells, such as with anaemia as one example, the HbA1c can be inaccurate and lower than expected. It can also be higher than expected with other haemoglobin variants.

Approved Investigating diabetes-related distress based on the type of glucometer used

I just have one question - why is this restricted to diagnosed Type 1s? Most of the Type 2s on this busy forum also use glucose meters, self funded of course. In case you don't realise this!

    Type 2 HBA1C + Dairy

I smother everything in butter, it is so good for us in many ways, and as for eggs - best nutritional food on the planet. If you lower your carbs you absolutely need to increase your good fats or you will be hungry and lack energy. Your nurse is just following the out of date guidelines to eat...

Goodness me. Are you sure you are in group 6?

Oxford/Pfizer vaccines , first hand report

My friend's husband and his twin brother both had their jabs on Sunday (in Sunderland). They are aged 75 and neither has any underlying health conditions. They are not shielders. They got their invitation by phone on Saturday, and both were gobsmacked! It was the Pfizer one. How has that...

    Fructosamine results

Thanks for the tag, but I have no experience of the Fructosamine test other than when my higher than expected HbA1c results showed I probably have long lived haemoglobin I asked for the Fructosamine test but was refused. I was told very, very few labs in the UK analyse these tests making them...

Will I always be officially diabetic now I'm diagnosed

My surgery is one that considers remission to be HbA1c's under 48 for a year or two without medication. My first HbA1c under 48 was in June 2014 and has remained that way since then. My medical records still showed a coding of Diabetic until 2018 when my then GP went through all my records...

Average BG mmol/L to HbA1c conversion - Libre

I haven't used a Libre for some time, but I did use them for a few years, and ALWAYS the estimated HbA1c was a lot lower than my actual lab tested one, even though the Libre readings weren't too far off my meter readings. I just ignored it.

When should I measure my fasting level?

If you wait until before lunch there are many factors other than not eating any food that can raise or lower your levels, such as activity of any sort, which may vary from day to day so your readings could be inconsistent. If you want a true fasting reading, it is best to do it as soon as you...

Does early/slow developing type 1 often get misdiagnosed for prediabetes(type 2)?

There is a form of Type 1 diabetes that develops slowly. It is called LADA, and it is often misdiagnosed initially as Type 2 diabetes. LADA stands for Latent Autoimmune Diabetes of Adulthood, and develops slowly in adults. Good luck with your blood test.

    Type 2 Shielding

Your employer has a duty of care, and employers are all advised on how to keep their staff safe in Covid times - masks, social distancing, hand washing/sanitising facilities in the work place, canteen, etc. If these things are not in place, then you need to speak to your union rep or HR...

    New, posting for advice.

Was this just a finger prick blood test, or one from your arm? Can you tell us what the measurement units were, and when the test was taken ie were you fasting for 10 hours or so before the test, or had you recently eaten or drunk anything? Only a diagnostic HbA1c test will tell you if you are...

A lancet is a lancet is a lancet

I have used an Accu-chek device for almost 7 years that came with my Accu-chek Mobile meter. The lancets are situated inside a drum, 6 of them in each drum. You don't see or touch the lancet. Just hold the device on the finger and click. They can be purchased separately from the meter. So easy...

    covid injection calculator

I am guessing, but I think each GP set up will have their own priority list within each group, such as the over 80's in alphabetical order. Therefore a married couple can go together. I believe the GPs have been told by their own governing body to use discretion about the 2nd dose thing.

    covid injection calculator

My original projection was February. It is now between the end of March to the end of May. I live in a small town but am pleased to see our health centre has a supply of the vaccine and is currently busy vaccinating the over 80's. Several people I know of in the over 80's group have had their...

    Peripheral neuropathy at low weight

Back in 2013 I had 6 rounds of chemotherapy that left me with peripheral neuropathy in my feet. This is a common side effect of chemo, and my oncologist explained it could take many years to disappear as the nerves down to the feet are the longest ones we have in our bodies and take a long time...
