Has your GP coded you as in remission? A couple of years ago my nurse didn't do the foot check. She said they don't do it if you are in remission. It doesn't worry me as I can check myself.
I have learnt from recent experience with my surgery that it is necessary to push for what you want. You have the opportunity to do this when your nurse calls you. Make sure you are well prepared for this phone call and try to stand your ground. Good luck!
The system currently at my surgery is (for type 2s) we have our blood drawn and then await results. We can also drop off a urine sample in a special box. In my case I get the results on-line usually within 24 hours. 48 hours at the most. If we don't have the on-line facility, we can arrange to...
I also have a very large soft boiled egg for breakfast, every day. I still remember the slogan "go to work on an egg". Not that I go to work. I also have hard boiled eggs with mayo at lunch times and of course fried eggs with fry ups. I also love them poached. I am not at all keen on scrambled...
During the first lockdown our boiler misbehaved and was leaking. It was still under guarantee so the maker sent one of its own gas engineers to sort it. He wore gloves and a mask. He was very careful not to touch anything he didn't need to. He emptied the water he had collected down the loo, and...
I cannot for the life of me see how test and trace picked up all those in supermarkets, unless they also used data from the app, and that is very inconclusive, or it only relates to staff members. The app starts to record as soon as you scan it and continues to work until midnight or when the...
I am sure all GP's and pharmacies and other similar places are already putting plans in action for if and when a vaccine arrives. Some have already been interviewed for TV news items and are busy planning.
As this is your first post, I would like to ask you why you are asking this question. Are you a diabetic, or thinking you maight be?
Personally, I was 66, diagnosed Type 2 from a routine blood test with absolutely no symptoms at all.
I believe my blood test results over and above any "experts". I eat usually 20 eggs a week, am in remission from T2, cholesterol and lipids ideal, and all other bits and bobs within range.
I missed out on my 6 monthly blood test in June, but received a letter asking me to book an appointment for my November blood test. I did that and had the test last Friday. No problems. If the tests throw up anything untoward, I will be contacted by the nurse.
We make deep fried in lard proper potato chips. I just have half a dozen. Maximum 10 on rare occasions. They make absolutely no difference whatsoever to my levels. Portion size works for me.
You are quoting your total cholesterol at 6.1. On its own, that is meaningless. You need the breakdown of the parts that make up the total. The total is just that, a total of the good cholesterol, the not so good and the bad. Have you got the breakdown? If not, you need it.
Hello and welcome,
In the UK statins are offered to all diabetics. I say "offered" because that is all they can do. We are not obliged to accept them. I certainly wouldn't touch them with a barge pole. Do you know what your full cholesterol results were? (HDL, LDL and triglycerides) Without...
I quite like this interim list of priorities. It is attempting to protect health care workers and the most vulnerable first. We must try to protect the very elderly and frail in care homes so they can see their loved ones in their last stage of life. It is heartbreaking to see care home...
I eat a lot of protein, and I mean a lot. It has never raised my BS levels and never affected my fasting levels, which have always been low. I was under the impression that protein will only cause raised BS levels as a very last resort, when all else fails.
