    Type 2 Completely lost!

You need to find out what your blood test for diabetes showed - the actual figures. Your GP may be able to tell you, and he will certainly be able to tell you what your blood results were when taken at the surgery. Try ringing the receptionist at your surgery. Ask for a copy of the blood tests...

    Medication

I also think you are doing well, even without all your other problems. With an HbA1c of 50 on diagnosis medication is unlikely to be offered, including Metformin, so I cannot understand why your nurse wants to increase your meds. I think she is wrong, personally. I can't tell you what to do, I'm...

Linseed is Flaxseed! Same thing. :)

    Fibre

That doesn't sound very much at all, especially with all the walking you do. You don't seem to have anywhere near enough fat or protein. It could even be your problem is not eating enough - there is nothing to get rid of. Where have you read that we shouldn't eat flaxseed? I have a good portion...

    Help again again again

Reducing carbs will help lower your cholesterol and will help with weight loss. There are other fatty things you can eat at will. Eggs, eggs and more eggs. Salmon (tinned or fresh) as much as you like, other oily fish such as mackerel and sardines, and of course meat as @bulkbiker suggests...

    T2 and Cholesterol

It is the triglycerides that are the baddies, not the LDL. If your trigs are low your LDL is likely to have plenty of the good fluffy particles rather than the bad hard ones. Have a read up on this. I am having a problem with your results because here in the UK we have totally different...

    Hello

Hello and welcome to the club. Just ask questions, and also have a look at the main website, which is a huge library of information. Good luck.

How does an a1c of 5% (or 30s mmol/l) look like?

You may find it difficult to arrange a Fructo test. I asked my GP for one a few years ago as my HbA1c is the opposite of yours - it is always unrealistically higher than expected. I was told my surgery does not do them because they are expensive, and very few labs in the UK do them, which means...

    HBA1C test, confused

Hello and welcome! No need to worry. Your HbA1c is 35, which is absolutely normal. Between 42 and 47 is classed as pre-diabetes. 48 and about is diabetic.

    Tannith's views on reversing T2

@Tannith you seem to pay a lot of attention to weight loss, and have re-started a low cal weight loss exercise. Can you tell us if you are in the over weight range, the obese range, or normal range? How much weight do you hope to lose? It is perfectly possible to lose weight on a diet of low...

One other question - do you take any medications?

    Home HbA1c tests

Fingers crossed for you @Pipp that it is accurate. I didn't have such luck when I did one about 3 years ago. (A1cNow) It came out at 33 or 5.2%. A week later my normal HbA1c came out at 43 or 6.1%. That is what started my GP on the "let's try a different lab" journey, and that's when there was...

    Struggling

It was 40 and 44. I'm no good on percentages. :) This was of concern to my GP as was I normal or was I pre-diabetic.

    insulin resistance

Yes, it is perfectly possible for insulin users to become resistant to it if the body feels it is being overloaded. The best way to help with this is to reduce the amount of insulin needed by reducing the carbs. Are you on fixed doses of your insulin?

Covid vaccine halted in other countries

On the news today it said there had been a similar number of reported blood clots after the Pfizer vaccine. I still believe all this in Europe is political. The EU made a mess of it and are now being petty and trying to cover up.

    Struggling

Thanks for the tag @Brunneria @Flamingo74 I did indeed have 2 HbA1c tests done from the same blood draw, and then each sent to a different lab. Same blood draw, different results. There was a 4 point difference between them.

Covid vaccine halted in other countries

Not one person has come up with a causal effect of blood clots from the vaccine. Very few people have reported blood clots throughout Europe, and it is not a listed side effect. Caused by the vaccine or coincidental? My bet is coincidental. What other conditions/lifestyles have these few...

What is a dangerous HbA1c level

Yes, there are drugs that lower blood sugar levels as much as a low carb diet will, but Metformin is not one of them. It helps to a limited extent by reducing the amount of glucose the liver shoots out and to a limited extent with insulin resistance, but it does not lower blood sugar levels...
