Type 1 Blood pressure getting lower.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have previously looked up the BP ranges and this morning's reading fell into the low range. I also read that without symptoms then a BP in the low range isn't really classed as an issue. But I was just a bit curious as it seems to be lower than what I have been...

Type 1 Blood pressure getting lower.

Hi, been T1 for 8yrs, I'm coming up to 39, don't smoke/drink and am probably just slightly underweight (always have been, I can never put on/keep on a lick of weight). At all of my reviews my BP has always been smack bang in the normal range. At my last review I noticed that it was a fair bit...

How do you handle high BG with adrenaline/excitement?

Basically, a correction dose? This is my problem though. I drop like a rock then through the night :(

How do you handle high BG with adrenaline/excitement?

Hello there :) This is something I just do not have a grip on and wondered if there is actually a way to get a grip on it or to just ride it out. Since last year, I have been involved in amateur theatre which is great fun. However, you can bet your bottom dollar that when it comes to...

    Type 2 and insulin question...

Hi, somebody asked me a question about this and I didn't know what the answer was. Can some people with Type 2 be insulin dependent? As in, they will die if they don't have insulin?

Anyone have a filling between their two front teeth?

Thank you, Chris. Yes, if it needs doing, better sooner rather than when s cavity does actually kick in.

Anyone have a filling between their two front teeth?

I'll be honest, it's been 3yrs since my last dentist visit but I recently saw the hygienist and he told me that he could see that I have a shadow between my two top front teeth which is indicative of a cavity forming. So long story short, I will need to get a filling done right in the middle of...

    Thinning hair

This is a really common thing and not exclusive to diabetes. I think t's down to your body just reacting to the stress it has been under. My hair did the same approx a month or two after being diagnosed. If you're fairly newly diagnosed, this could be what is causing it. Google 'Telogen Effluvium'.

    Persistent lows

Nope, never discovered any reason for it. Just an unexplained diabetes mystery ;)

    Persistent lows

Yep! Quite often (maybe every 3-5 months) I would get up to 2 weeks of constant hypos (up to 5 a day). There was no rhyme or reason to it and then they would just go back to normal. Haven't had that for quite a long while now, though, that you mention it.

    Hypos

I haven't really had any weird dreams, but I remember one time during the night, while I was still sleeping, my own voice inside my head was shouting, "Hey! You're having a hypo! Wake up, wake up! You're having a hypo!" I woke up, feeling hypo, tested then treated. It was just funny that my...

T1 Diagnosed 2 days ago - so sad

Hi there, try not to worry about high levels at the moment, you have literally been diagnosed just a few days, higher levels at this time are totally normal as you're getting to grips with it all. I think if you manage to get into a positive mind frame now, then this will set you on a great...

    Dangers of reusing needles?

Oh, I'm always reusing needles and lancets because I'm lazy! I've never yet had a single problem. Not saying I advise it but don't panic just because you have to reuse a needle once. As shar67 said, it blunts a little each time so that's likely why it feels a bit sore and also because you're...

BG suddenly jumping late afternoon/early evening??

Hi Ruth, no, not especially. Plus it happened three days running. But I know what you mean regarding high flat delaying the spike. Interestingly, though, the past couple of days it hasn't (haven't split levemir does as yet). I'll monitor for the next couple of days and see how it goes.

BG suddenly jumping late afternoon/early evening??

Thank you, this is EXACTLY what I'm thinking. I think the levemir is suddenly not lasting. I do understand people saying not to worry much about the 2hr readings, but this is awfully high for me and all of a sudden. It's seems something other than general post-meal spikes or a bolus problem...

BG suddenly jumping late afternoon/early evening??

Thanks becky, I'll try bringing my Levemir forward a bit. I've just test 2hrs post lunch and they've jumped 6mmols into the 14's!! So, the problem definitely around this time. I've previously been on a 1:8 ratio for lunch with only up to a 3mmol spike at 2hrs. Wonder why the sudden huge leap...

why are my levels high 2hrs after eating

Maybe you need to increase your bolus ratios?

BG suddenly jumping late afternoon/early evening??

Hi, wonder if anyone had any ideas. I take Novorapid and Levemir and carb count. My control is quite tight and for the past month ranges have been about 4-7. Due to my hypo tendencies my DSN wanted me to ease up on my control a little, which I have done this past week. Levels have been fine...

    No more pumping for now.

I don't actually like my pump DSN so the less contact I have with her the better, I'm afraid to say. While the steel cannulas have been better, the adhesive is so poor, I've ripped them out I don't know how many times. I've already got two patches on me and don't want to be sticking tape and...
