    The 1- and 2-hour thresholds

So several sites have listed 7.8 mmol/L and 6.6 mmol/L as the target post-meal 1-hour and 2-hour BG targets. How are we supposed to look at them? o_O Is it "as long as I'm below those thresholds, I'm good"? Or is it "I'm going to get as much below those thresholds as I can go"? I assumed it...

    Low-carb diet = eating more?

Does a low-carb diet imply the need to eat more food? We've reduced carbs, so we need to increase fats. But there's only so much sources of non-animal fat I can think of... yogurt, nuts, olive oil... there's only so much bacon one should consume in a day. Is anyone else finding themselves eating...

    Not sleeping well

I seem to wake up after 4 or 5 hours of sleep maybe four nights a week. I actively try to stop fluids 2-3 hours before sleep, thinking it's urine-related, but I don't feel a particularly strong urge to urinate. Low-carb but high uric acid?

I just came back from a series of test to check my heart palpitations. Symptoms of nutrient deficiencies to watch out for?

When going low-carb, what are some of the symptoms to pay attention to that signal that your body may be deficient on certain nutrients? Losing minerals is what I keep reading about, but... how do you know you're losing minerals and not taking enough back in?

How do you know it's working? (prediabetic)

Since picking myself up from the floor after being diagnosed a prediabetic, I've cut out all white bread, rice, most grains (I still eat a slice of grain/seed bread maybe 2-3 times a week), noodles, and potatoes from my diet. I'm eating apples or berries only occasionally. Mornings is mostly...

    New prediabetic and meter readings

Hi all, thought I'd register and post - been lurking around here for a while. I was diagnosed a pre-diabetic about 3 weeks ago. I had a fasting glucose level of 6.3 mmol/L and HbA1c at 5.8%. I'm assuming the ranges are country-dependent? Prediabetic range is 6.0 - 7.0 and 6% - 7%. My LDL and...
