There has been quite a bit of talk lately on insulin sensitivity issues and seems like a subject difficult to get to the bottom of.
I am also lately having problems with my Tresiba/Fiasp mdi.
50+ years now of T1d but healthy and pretty fit.
Anyway, my insulin sensitivity has dramatically reduced...
I've recently upped my fitness regime.
Not that I was unfit, but just started pushing on a bit more.
I mean 1 or maybe 2 hours per day of cycling, odd day running, swimming etc.
Sometimes competitive push for 3 hours max.
Feeling pretty good, but I noticed that slowly my basal requirement seems...
So I wont be offered one as my hba1c is not above 58mmol?
300,000 type 1s in the UK.
I wonder what number/percentage of people with type 1 will be catered for with the 58mmol threshold criteria?
I'm some way of 58, but I guess if your hovering between 50-55 then this is an incentive for you to...
Been itchiting like mad for a few days now. 10days old decided it had to come off. Horrible mess, bruising and infection.
First such problem in 2 years.
Guess it hit something my body didn't like.
I'm not too worried, squeezed as much as I can, cleaned up etc. Needle still intact after...
Running a bit low for a few hours, 20g carb, still low, 20g carb, still low, etc.
Then eventually it decides to take off into orbit!
Then the battle to get it back down 1 inj, nothing happening, another inj, etc.
Some days you just can't explain it!
My preferred is ‘Lift’ fast acting chews (10 in a tube, 3.7g each)
Dissolve in your mouth which is great and probably the fastest into the bloodstream.
However, tricky to open and consume whilst continuing to cycle.
Also, once you have a part consumed tube, the remainder will start to rattle...
Good control 50 years etc!
2k laser both sides and all stable apparaently, last review 2 months back now.
But today now noticing my second micro bleed, not major but I know what it is (last one was 8 years ago)
Perimeter of vision (that bit of cobwebby blood floating around).
I think it should...
A load of blood from my basal injection this morning.
Tresiba once a day am.
So potentially basal all gone within a few hours?
Just wondering what tips anyone can advise on dealing with this scenario to get back to normal asap?
I’ve not been a great sleeper for many years, and I know this can be a problem area for many type 1s. Since moving onto Libre CGM 2 years ago my BG has been much improved but to be honest my sleeping is now even worse. I find that controlling my BG with libre CGM is so much easier, but it does...
I received my letter to say the necessary checks have been successfully completed and my new license will be issued shortly. But that was back in November and I've still not received it. I've sent them an email 2 weeks ago to chase it, but no reply.
Not sure what else I can do.
Can't imagine...
I've been in Libre 2 now for 2 years. I've tried to get switched up to the new L3 with no joy yet.
Anyway, after my annual review with some chap who was not really interested tbh.
The review letter comes through telling me he will ask the team to switch me to the dexcom one.
Well, tbh pros and...
I've just noticed a bump (pimple about 10mm diameter 3mm high) on my arm, in the area exactly where my previous libre 2 was (removed just over a week ago)
Not sure if the bump is libre 2 related, but I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced similar?
Come back of Xmas hols, flights hot hotels etc. with a bit of a nasty cold (I will refrain from using the word 'flu' and cba to test)
Anyway, it always amazes me just how much extra fiasp I'm needing just to keep me below the tens. Probably x4 (yes 4 times) what I would normally take. Hope this...
Having a deep tidy of the house today. I find the boxes of cotton wool, surgical spirit, plastic boxes for this and that.
Loads of different styles of lancets, prickers, cases, etc.
Must've thrown all the glass syringes and test tubes for urine samples... adding tablets and bubbling away...
Type 1 now for 47 years (6.2hba1c) but still making schoolboy errors!
Too much pasta bake last night, which on recalculation was about 120g of carbs compared to my usual evening meal of about 60g.
Anyway, I didn’t think it would be a problem, I just doubled up on my bolus (fiasp), however, it...
So the last few weeks, my basal (tresiba) requirements slowly getting less and less.
I'm used to tweaking it around, butt only usually within 1 or 2 units. Currently 12 per day.
I do like like to have enough background going on, it makes a massive difference to the fast acting I need.
But...
A couple of times now my morning basal must've hit a vein.
Gives a bit of a nightmare day.
Top tips please for avoidance?
PS. I'm always into my abdomen (with some lipohypertrophy)
