I have been a Type 2 Diabetes patient for 17yrs managed with diet and exercise. 2 years ago I contracted Epstein Barr virus. My blood sugar went to 54 and then 57. Reluctantly put on Metformin one tablet a day. My kidney function went from 66 down to 57. Got off Metformin.
