    Newly Diagnosed and Hungry

Of course it's life changing but it's just another puddle in life's rain soaked path. Hey ho on we go. Its not brilliant but It's not the end of the world and people have an awful lot worse to deal with. It's all about acceptance and change and not becoming a martyr to the cause. I'll get my coat.

    Newly Diagnosed and Hungry

For a newly diagnosed type 1 the first step is "Don't panic " !! I can only speak from experience but the normal response is check this , don't eat that, no chips etc etc. one step at a time !!!! Test and test and test until you know the bad boys , carbs, alchohol, crisps, and over time you...

Does insulin cause weightgain in Type2 ?

in my experience if your using insulin basal/bolus and feel constantly hungry then you may be using too much insulin or using the wrong balance. I believe when you start using insulin then this allows the cells to process the sugar/energy in your system which then behave as normal cells - ie if...

How do you feel on a daily basis with high bg?

You've no idea how much that helps. The Doc told me to use 5 units for every meal and I did that for months and ended up eating to avoid the hypos. If we went for a meal I'd have something to eat before we went in case i didn't last. I had no idea 1 unit could make that much difference !!! thats...

How do you feel on a daily basis with high bg?

huge thanks for taking the time to respond. sounds like most people have similar experiences. I thought I was going mad wondering why no one else felt this way. I need to get back on track but hate fast acting insulin, spend all my time worrying about hypos. I'm not quite sure how to deal with...

    Basal - night or morning

IHS and HSW posted some incredibly useful info about the action times of lantus but I,m back again, sorry. If the long term insulin is most effective up to 16 hours then would it be better to inject in the morning when it' would be more effective for the three main meals ?
