http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/tv watch this Judith, it's the one called Horizon, eat, fast and live longer he's looking into anti-aging/living longer/reducing risk of heart problems and diabetes, he goes onto research different type of diets which include fasting methods and as a result it...

    Eat, Fast and Live Longer

Yep I found it really interesting. I liked the guys idea of 5 days normal and 2 days fasting because it seems more realistic but i feel like the 1 day intermittent fasting makes more sense because there's more consistency (if you eat healthy on the normal day too, not burgers and ice cream like...

    What's happened to my self-control?

Woo well done! ^_^(i don't like mince pies anyway so that's one less thing for me to try and resist), and don't overly worry yourself either!

    Stomach problems

I don't know about side effects after years, but i switched to slow release metform after getting similar symptoms with the regular metformin. If it was me, i'd go off it for a while and see if i feel any different...but just go and see the GP and discuss first obviously.

    What's happened to my self-control?

A single mince pie, a couple of biscuits? I envy you, you clearly still have self-control because you're still thinking your actions twice over and know what you maybe shouldn't have done. I think you should pass it off as a Christmas blip and go back to how you were eating before.

    Sweeteners/Coffee - Are they safe

I guess just trying cutting down to 1, and then cutting them out altogether if it's bothering you. You can definitely get used to the taste, beverages now taste better to me that they're not diluted with the sweetness. Do you actually want to give up coffee? maybe replace some of your coffee...

    CH4 Cook Yourself Thin.....

i love that show ^_^ i've tried a couple of the recipes but half the time i don't have all the ingredients and can't really afford to buy all those things at once in a recipe. Still love the show though and i like some of the ideas that i can incorporate into my food :D

    Confusion

I think you kind of answered your own question, switching to lower fat alternatives and using less fatty products really might help and you can start enjoying the taste or finding different ingredients to use. Even olive oil is really calorific (120 cals per tbsp) so there's extra calories...

    Hi, all ..new

Hey, good luck with your diabetes info ^_^ I was a newbie last year with t2 too and this forum has been super helpful even if it's just to browse previous threads and articles. A testing kit is useful to see what foods affect your sugars e.g. porridge is ok for some but sends others' levels...

Hi New member what effect does fruit have on diabetic

Hey Julie, out of interest did you get given a testing kit straight away? (my docs still won't give me one even though i've pushed him about it several times) Also I agree about the mandarins, I don't really have fruit but if i do it's only probably 1 portion a day.

    Not Clear

I think she questioned it because her sugar levels were always far too high often for no reason and she was rushed into hospital too many times to count, her mum was t1 and she was diagnosed when she was pregnant I think and put on insulin from then on (gestational diabetes maybe???). I don't...

    Newly Diagnosed woman problems

Just to let you know, when i had a serious case of thrush i took 4 garlic capsules at intervals in a day then decreased them after that when it had gone, that is if you were planning on trying them. I also checked with my doctor and he said it's fine for me to take them and i buy them from...

    Not Clear

Well yeah, it actually happened to my mum and because I heard about the 1.5 i thought there might be something that's opposite. My mum still has to take insulin even after figuring this out because she can't do without it. I know there are t2's that take insulin but my mum's considered and...

Is there a term for if someone is diagnosed as t1 and given t1 medication then it turns out they had t2 all along but are too far gone (apart from a mistake).

    Newly Diagnosed woman problems

I've found that taking garlic tablets can help with the thrush and yoghurt for soothing/eating and of course making sure i'm not eating a load of rubbish :) I really don't like the smell of the creams and they don't help eliminate the problem imo >.< Good Luck ^_^

how rude is your GP is so upset with the way I was treated

Re: how rude is your GP is so upset with the way I was treat How unproffessional and inappropriate, I would be kicking up a major fuss if i was treated like that. You have to stand up for yourself :!: you could always change doctor's surgery? Good luck Louiseb

Type 2- I not, never have been Obese!

Well at least you're here to change views of people who believe all type 2's lead a very unhealthy lifestyle... Cheer up, i used to get really annoyed that there are really unhealthy people who don't become diabetic but like someone else was saying, life isn't fair and you've just got to deal...

    Chocolate

Hi Sarah, I'm not a chocaholic but if there's any food that i know tastes yummy and it's in front of me, I will definitely eat it. I'm a real sucker for home baked treats like cupcakes. I think everyone's advice on here is great, this is what i find usually works for me: -don't buy sweet...
