that does sound strange, normally you can be fined if claiming free prescription without a valid card, e.g. if you forget to renew it in 5 years time when it expires! Hopefully the card will arrive before your next prescription

make sure if you start it that you have in-date ketone strips to check for ketones, as it can cause dka. Doesn't cause it in everyone but did for me so be sure to check if you don't feel well.

These don't need to go in a sharps bin, only sharp things need to go in it such as the needles and lancets. Test strips, wipes with blood on, etc all go in the normal bin. Non diabetics don't go getting sharps bins to put used plasters or tampons in, they just go in the normal bin, dont see why...
