    metformin and heart problems

Long term T1 here, Have had MANY "issues" with incompetent g.p's, especially with the current one, leading to the loss of a leg. So as you can imagine, I am NOT in favour of them, for any degree of diabetes related treatment. She was even made, by her practice, to go on a diabetes course (2 days...

G.P refusing to give me my insulin

It seems, that like many other things within the NHS, there's possibly a "postcode lottery" going on here. Okay, I'm VERY insulin dependant (2 types) & s,r, metformin, as I've become insulin resistant over the last 60 odd years, though my practice has NEVER refused to supply any prescription...

    Neuropathy advice

A few moments ago, on the ITV regional news, Bristol & West country, they showed a 13 Y.O. lad with C.R.P.S. Who had a fundraiser launched to send him to Texas to undergo a form of treatment, not (currently) on the NHS. The similarities, between the symptoms, are virtually identical. He had...

    Neuropathy advice

Okay "meds" etc. Back in the early 80's, I first became aware, that I had what I thought was restless leg syndrome, And as this was pre-internet time, some research found that evening primrose oil was helpful with this (& still is today) as it "calms the nerve endings". This worked pretty well...

    Sweets prohibited at entertainment venues

This IS a form of discrimination & the management, should make their security staff, both employed & contractors aware of this. Up to 10% of the population is diabetic & venues are or should be aware, that up to 2% of their customers are disabled in some way & they have to take this into...

    Neuropathy advice

Hi jp169. Been there etc, (T1, 64yrs) & through the incompetence of my general practice, I ended up with a below knee amputation. That was in 03. If you're on facebook, there is loads of info there. My then g.p. who was/is a senior partner, was made by the practice, (under my threat of legal...

    Best Libre 2 Sensor Cover??

I've lost a few over the last couple of years, I rang Abbott's 0800 number & was asked for the batch number, when this last happened. You can find this at the bottom of the list, in the settings section, just drop the menu down to find it, and it will tell you the last 3 sensor batches. A new...

    Libre 2

You should, maybe depending on your postcode, be able to get a prescription for one through your g.p. or be given one through your endo/diabetes specialists at your diabetic clinic at your hospital. If you don't have a smartphone, they may give you a sensor as well.

    Stress - T1

I've had near hypo's when under stress, & it can take me quite a bit longer to get back to normal levels, than it would do with a normal "low" which (for me) starts at 5.0. My lowest ever, 1.9 was rather "challenging" & despite the usual remedial action(s) recovery took noticeably longer to sort...

    Can anyone help!!

I'm a long term t.1. & have had p.n. for nearly 30 years. I originally controlled it with evening primrose oil, (1 x 1000iu a day). Then it got worse in 02/3 so I saw my g.p. about it. "I'll look it up on the internet" she said, without much visible interest. So then she went on hols, without...

    Leg cramps & Metformin?

Long-term type 1 also on metformin ( fairly recently) have had leg cramps for quite a few years & max dose of quinine sulphate (nightly) does next to nothing to control it. Doesn't seem to make any difference what my sugar levels are, I am usually woken up by it. Have found over the years, that...

    Longest living type 1 diabetic

HI everyone, I haven't posted much in the past, so accept my apologies. I'm a 55y/o t1 guy who's been so for 50 years. I was chatting with a lady the other day who was based at a different hospital clinic to myself & she mentioned that she was asked to take part in a nationwide survey for long...
