Although I was considered "cured" some time ago, I only need to partake one of the offending cakes and my next reading will be 8, 9 or 10. I recently took a kidney test the result of which was albumen/creatine level "exceptionally high". thus prompting another doctors appointment. Is there...

Family history / mistrust of NHS

Keep watching this site. You will get lots of advice. Some will be contradictory, but we often react differently to the same treatment. So you takes your pick. It will all be well intentioned and usually very helpful. I stopped taking medication after one year and now control my sugar by diet...

Effects of hot weather on sugar levels.

ppprased First tell me where this sun is. I miss it so much. I always wear some form of head cover as I am a little thin on top. (Well, quite naked really.) Just a little sun does the job by singing the very thin protective skin layer and causing days of irritation. Keep it covered and be safe.

    Ignorant people

Karenchq. I feel for you as do all of us here. Lots of good answers here, but beating an idiot with a stick will not do the slightest good and could get you arrested. I think the least aggressive approach is the best. Smile through your pain and come out on top, as you surely will.

Hello, Just been told I have to use Insulin from now on

1066boy Sorry to hear that you are now going on insulin. You have tolerated T2 for a considerable time but you still have your independence. That you haven't lost. I'm a bit like you. I am not "like someone else". I am me. Your Doc may well be right that it is not your diet. But you can adjust...

Confusion within NHS Over The Treatment of Tyoe 2

I am glad that you got it all sorted out eventually. It seems that one must be very careful when giving advice on medical matters. I have myself only recently been put at risk of bleeding to death due to what at first seemed a minor difference of opinion by medical specialists. It turned out...

    brussel sprouts

licklemoose, pst 1618339 Hi. Sprouts are very good for you but I hate them. My better half has devised a way to disguise the taste by breaking them up and mixing with a cream cheese or similar. With regard to the oxo, beware of the high salt content. I love them and sprinkle some on scrambled egg.

Does drinking black coffee affect your BG?

All this sounds very complicated. I drink one coffee with cream at breakfast and occasionally another during the day if I go out. I don't think I have noticed any changes in my bg. Perhaps I don't drink enough coffee ?. I do drink about 4 or 5 cups of tea a day. Maybe I should try some Zero...

    Inspiration needed?

A low carb diet seems to work much better with high fat. (Not excessively high). Reduce the high carbs, eat more above ground veg. Now off meds. It works for me.

    Newby Type 2

You have come to the right place for information and advice. Your story is fairly typical. Why the medical profession is so reticent over details of diabetes to their patients maybe something to do with the attitude of the NHS. They can not afford to treat all those with Diabetes so they bury...

    Shock

Liam1955 Gives good advice, but seeing another GP can be difficult. I did exactly as he says and it worked for me.. Now I do not need metformin and can control my BG by diet. Low Carb works for so many it is worth giving it a try. Have a go, and good luck.:cat:
