    Advice on the insight pump

Hi @Chas C thank you, lots more to think about. I have previously looked through insight posts and I did wonder if some of these issues may be isolated to a few pumps or early teething problems. I will be asking the questions before I make my decision.

    Advice on the insight pump

Hi @CarbsRok thank you for your reply. Do you know what the other problems are? So far it’s only been the handset and how it compares to the combo. My hospital is still offering the insight but I think it’s to those who have never had a pump before. Their assumption is because I’m used to the...

    Advice on the insight pump

Thanks @Neoncat for your reply. There seem to be more pros than cons with the insight. With a bit of persuasion I’m hoping to have the insight by mid March

    Advice on the insight pump

Thanks for the reply @Chas C Your input has been helpful. I have considered staying with the combo but feel I now need a change to something better, life has changed over the last 4 years and the benefits the insight has with the ease of changing the cartridges the extra multiple boluses plus...

    Advice on the insight pump

I’m currently using the accu-check combo pump, the warranty ran out about a week ago. For me the logical move would be to go onto the insight but when speaking to the consultant or a DNS they advise me not to. Only reason is the handset. I also spoke to a pump rep who said I would get fed up...

    Liver dump

Hi Frodo27 I’m a type 1 diabetic who is also insulin resistant, I’ve been on a pump for 4 years and still suffer with occasional high blood sugars in the early hours due to a liver dump. Often they are caused by hormonal changes (got quite a few when I was pregnant and up to a year after) I...

    Air bubbles Accu Chek insight

Hi Jo1407, I hope you managed to get some answers from the rep. I’m on the spirit combo and get quite a few air bubbles. I think the issue with air bubbles is more to do with the insulin than the pump itself hence why accu-check aren’t much help. After months of calling accu-check with no help I...

Type 1 Been told something on holiday (upsetting) type 1 diabetic!

I’m very perplexed by some of these answers and some are just rather idiotic. I think some have also assumed that ANDuncan wasn’t being discreet enough when taking his bg and administering his insulin, I really cannot see that ANDuncan had stood up from the table and proceeded to drop his pants...

Induction stories please! What to pack?

@ jade88 I'm terrible, there is always at least one thing I forget when I leave the house. My sister did tell me to make sure I pack enough feminine products as men always get it wrong and saves them the embarrassment. I think I've packed enough for a month!! [emoji51]

Induction stories please! What to pack?

Hey @Postitnote, I'm having the same dilemma!! I go in on Monday morning. I think I've over packed. I have packed pjs for nighttime approx 3 pairs plus a nightie and lots of comfy clothes (more than I need) for the day, mainly leggings, yoga pants and t-shirts which could double up as pjs too...

Should of said pint of water if I remember correctly an hour before scan

Will I have an early scan?

Congratulations @Sammorgan16 My first scan was at around 8 weeks. From what I understand 5 weeks may be too early to see anything but I could be wrong. Maybe call them and find out? If you are due to have a scan they'll want you to drink a pint of water.

    Planning

Congratulations @Pitsgate, this is my second pregnancy too! Currently 34 weeks. I never had eye screening with my first so did not know that pregnancy could affect the eyes.

    Planning

Hi @ Kateyo I've been diagnosed with background retinopathy in both eyes during my pregnancy. When I went for my first eye screening at about 12 weeks there was no signs of retinopathy. During the second trimester it showed up as having background retinopathy in both eyes. I'm due to have...

    Control Of Diabetes During Labour

Thank you @tigger and @Loulou52 for your input. I'm 34 weeks and soon will be getting a date for induction. Next week I see my DSN who will set my pump for pre and post labour. From what I gather the diabetes team would prefer me to be on a sliding scale and feel that I should concentrate on...

    Control Of Diabetes During Labour

Thank you all for some insight into how you managed your diabetes during the birth of your babies. I had a great chat with my husband and we both agree that if I'm capable of managing it myself I should and he'll be there to help with blood testing if needed. Also we'll have the sliding scale as...
