Current state of affairs - appointments/ treatment

Hello everyone, Hope all’s well! Reaching out as interested to hear how people are currently finding treatment, hospital appointments and the like. And before I go into my current ordeal I’m by no means going to be slating the NHS as I’m fully aware of the amazing job they do and the...

Pump Upgrade – Decision Time/ Advice Appreciated

Thanks @Juicyj! Ah 3 months supply is perfect and the 2 day delivery sounds the same as Roche! Thanks for the clarity on the preset modes as well, good to know it offers that functionality. I wish I could be the same as you and low carb but unfortunately I am a big fan of carbs :joyful...

Pump Upgrade – Decision Time/ Advice Appreciated

Thanks for the detailed response @Juicyj! You've given me a bit more peace of mind re my thoughts on the 640G too. Battery feels less of an issue now, and as you say, once you get used to changing the cartridge it's probably a doddle. I remember hating changing the cartridge and priming on my...

Pump Upgrade – Decision Time/ Advice Appreciated

Thanks for the reply, Chas. Good to know you were in a similar position moving from the Combo to the T:Slim and the hesitancies I have you don't think are an issue. It does look good, and definitely an option I'm swaying towards. Is there a handset with this device or does everything need to be...

Pump Upgrade – Decision Time/ Advice Appreciated

Hello all, Hope you're well! First of all, appreciate how many threads there are on this already and the wealth of info available. However, starting a new thread with the hope I might get some advice on the options I have and from people that may have been in the same boat. To set the scene...

    Type 1 Vaping and diabetes

Evening all, Hope you’re good! I stopped smoking in January this year and moved onto the vapes... as you do. Obviously I know this still isn’t good for you, but better than the old ciggies. I guess one thing I wanted to ask was whether anyone has experienced high blood sugars after vaping? My...

Diabetes discrimination at work - advice needed!

Hi @tim2000s , That's a good point to be honest, not really sure what the outcome would be. Just to be spoken to with respect in the place of work and not be humiliated/ outed in front of peers. After having time to think about it and spending the day at home I'm just gonna draw a line under...

Diabetes discrimination at work - advice needed!

His apology was only ‘sorry I made you upset’ so pretty week when you look at the context of it all. And of course he had to apologise to cover his back when it becomes a HR matter. Seems a lot of people on here seem to think this behaviour is okay which surprises me and you shouldn’t stand up...

Diabetes discrimination at work - advice needed!

Yeh agree there’s principals. However Steve Jobs was the owner right? This guy I’m dealing with has a director title, but is in no way anything to do with anything affiliated with running the business. He’s essentially a few steps above me.

Diabetes discrimination at work - advice needed!

Hi @BloodThirsty - cheers for replying! Suppose it's an age old debate really. Should we have to suffer because of ignorance and not stand up for ourselves, or sacrifice a 'career path'? To me, I don't think it's fair and I'll follow my passions whatever and for once in my life I'm standing up...

Diabetes discrimination at work - advice needed!

Thanks for replying! That’s the thing, he does know about it and in a position of business director should know about discretion when it comes to this subject.

Diabetes discrimination at work - advice needed!

Thanks for the reply, as I mentioned I did give them one week’s notice. Also the fact that they should not be talking about medical issues in front of others is another thing. Which is why I did not read the sorry email. Also didn’t want to reply without speaking with HR.

Diabetes discrimination at work - advice needed!

Evening all, Hope you’re good! Apologies in advance for the essay. So I’m reaching out for advice and to also understand if anyone has been through this before and what you would do in this scenario. I work as an account manager for a media agency and the people that need to know I have type...

    Omnipod Availability On Nhs

Afternoon all, Saw on twitter earlier someone post about using an Omnipod - never seen it before but it looks interesting! I’ve had a pump over 10 years now and it would be good to test something wireless! Is anyone using this - and did you get it through the NHS? Any pros/ cons to it? I...

    Type 1: Delayed hypo

13 is probably good for me on a morning truth be told. However it does make me question how low did my blood go if I was able to eat a full bag of giant buttons, a can of coke and glucose tabs?! It's a mystery! Good points though - my sugars have been up and down for quite sometime now so this...

    Type 1: Delayed hypo

Thanks @tim2000s - it was a bit of a weird one really, I've not really experienced feeling hypo for such a long time. I do normally go with my blood meter but on this occasion I knew I was feeling low so felt it wasn't right. Probably was due to exercise which makes it more frustrating!

    Type 1: Delayed hypo

Morning all, Yesterday morning I went for a 5K run, when I got back my blood was 6. I didn't really feel hypo after it however later in the day I started feeling the symptoms. Before bed my blood was 6.7 however I was starting to feel very faint and shaky. Before going to bed I had, 5 glucose...

    Type 1 and exercise

Hi all, Does anyone find exercise and diabetes a terrible mix? Whenever I go to hospital for a check up I'm told 'check your blood' before carrying out any activity and the usual spiel, which I find never helps. Today I went for a 5K run and checked my blood before and it was 11. I checked...

    Pump problems

Hi guys, Hope your weekend is going well! The past few weeks my accu check spirit combo has been playing up and my blood meter hasn't been connecting to the pump, which has meant manual bolusing and lots of high blood sugars. Tonight I unpaired the meter from the pump and now they won't pair...

    Weed and diabetes

Hi @VeronicaSmith – thanks for the reply and your insight! Sorry to hear about your allergy and I hope things improve! It's good that weed has helped your HBA levels, really interesting to get feedback from people like yourself! I'm definitely open-minded to smoking weed again, it's got to...
