    Redefining diabetes ?

My first thought when I saw the latest newsletter & the weight loss of a Christopher Biggins being trumpeted as the main item was, who is this person to have such praise heaped upon him? I'd not heard of him before but it appears he developed Type 2 & went to Germany to loose weight. My second...

    Telling off for self testing

Atad heavy. I'm a retired SRN who was told 5 yrs later that I was Type 2. I was encouraged to test often & was given a monitor by the nurse. I decided to buy the testing strips. In order to reverse type 2 I decided to use the Newcastle Diet & was horrified to find that it was unkown to the...

Reversed T2 in 3 months diet only!

I'm similar to your 3 month trip but I religiously followed the Newcastle Diet. I've adopted a low calorie/sort-of high fat diet & nearly a year later am still 3 stone lighter than when I started. So - well done M C

    The NHS T2 Treatment Regime

If I'd not been a retired NHS ward charge nurse I'd not have put myself on the Newcastle Diet & lost 3 stones. My BS is now 38. Neither my GP nor the nurse gave any advice approaching it. The GP was fascinated with the ND sheets I showed him & asked to keep them so I hope others will now be...

The Hidden Killer. Type 2 Diabetes.

I merely want to make the point is, my own weight reduction & stability is due only to the change I made a year ago to my diet having followed the Newcstle Diet to get a now normal BS. I did it through diet alone. I just make the point that I didn't hear this view made once during the...

The Hidden Killer. Type 2 Diabetes.

I was shocked when watching this programme that not one doctor, or other trained professional explained the part played by excess visceral fat & how that causes the pancreas to stop producing insulin, & by extension loosing weight will do the trick. Forget all the pills, even, & those...

Food intake restriction study by Prof. Roy Taylor, et al.

hello Pipp. I'll check my BG once a week for a month or two, & weigh 2 weekly but as my diet remains essentially unchanged I expect to stay at 168lbs, until I restart dieting in ernest next month to loose another 7 lbs. Cheers.

Food intake restriction study by Prof. Roy Taylor, et al.

Hello. Basically, the Newcastle diet is 3 (I had 2) replacement drinks a day, with non-starch veg meals. I used Morrisons own replacement meals, made up with two scoops powder in 2/3 rds water & the rest milk to 750 mls. The recommendation is 2 ltrs water as well. Included in the daily...

AndBreathe I saw the 508 reviewed in Which & as it got a thumbs up & a web search didn't find criticisms I bought it. The handles were the selling point & Omron has a good reputation. As for measurments, EdMac, I think they're accurate especially c/f with the digital scales I gave away. Both...

Thank you, Yes, Metformin is probably a good idea as I tolerate it well, but I work on the principle if I don't need then don't take it. I'm happy to use it as an aid to weight loss. As for insulin resistance, I've read about this & as I'm getting rid of my weight gain the only other symptoms...

Hello both, I have an Omron BF 508 & use the regime you follow. The latest visceral fat number was 13, & was 16 when I started on 23/01. The book tells me it needs to be between 9 & 1. Body fat = 28% now down from 33%. BMI = 27, was 29 but I don't use BMI at all so am not sure why I record...

Food intake restriction study by Prof. Roy Taylor, et al.

Hello, I'm very sure that having got rid of 37.5 lbs & reduced my HbA1c from 75 to 41 there isn't a hope in Hades of my chucking it all away, so having this documented & seeing others do the same, I can say the Newcastle Diet does works or my variant of it did. I varied my vegatables & ways...

I've saw the diab nurse this afternoon & she was over the moon. You're cured, she said.......My latest HbA1c is down from 75 in 10/15 to 41, & serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) is down from 102 to 18 ;-) I forgot to ask about stopping metformin! I intend to loose another stone & she said...

    Sugar Tax

I am amazed people are fooled by the congenital Osborne. It's a populist move to fool the masses & a money making effort to boot. Anyone with a hint of seriousness about health issues would force manufacturers to drop sugar levels.
