9 this morning, 5.8 last night. Been low carbing for over 5 years now but still always have high morning reading. Pleased when in single figures. I take one Gliclazide each morning and sugars don’t seem to come down without it.
I would be gutted too if I restricted my carbs so much and didn’t achieve normal blood sugars. I don’t blame you for wanting to swear! It does sound like something more than type 2. Good luck.
The WHO says over sixties are at a higher risk and a quarter of covid19 deaths in hospital had diabetes. The 3 people I know who have died have been in their 60s, all men, so I do have being female in my favour. I don’t know anyone who has died in a car accident in the last two months. So yes I...
I’ve never been tested for insulin resistance, so don’t know if I have that or alternatively just not producing enough. I’m worried about the virus as I know 3 families who have lost someone. Plus I’m in my 60s and diabetic. Looking at statistics that is high risk. I was really lucky and booked...
I understood that by controlling an HA1c you are controlling the symptoms but still have diabetes so your immune system could still be below par. Have I got this wrong?
Back home now, had quite a decent cheese salad for lunch, just left the potato salad. After low carbing for three and half years it goes against the grain to eat something carby. Might have done if particularly tempting. Lunch and dinner were ok, just breakfast when I couldn’t eat anything.
Now...
In hospital at the moment, had a gynae op yesterday. Roast chicken for evening meal, first food all day. Said no potato so got very small piece of chicken and some broccoli. This morning breakfast choices toast, cereal or porridge. Said I follow a low carb diet and no sugar. Was offered diabetic...
My uncle was told the same thing. After years of being a type 2 and also very slim he’s recently been told he is now type 1. As most older type 2s don’t get tested for type - gad or c-peptide, perhaps Lada is possible? Or can the pancreas just slowly stop working completely over time?
Meat and veg or salad, if you say no potatoes I find they are often more generous with veg or salad. Regularly eat at our local Indian then something like chicken or lamb bhuna with cauliflower bhajee or tandoori chicken and salad.
When I was diagnosed type2 I was told there wasn’t anything I could do apart from take medication. I have never been overweight and ate what was considered a ‘healthy’ diet. I now have good control of blood sugars and don’t loose weight with low carb. I eat plenty of nuts and cheese. Good luck.
So sorry for your losses. A lot to have to deal with, not really surprising that you ‘fell off the wagon’. Also more difficult staying low carb when you are cooking for others who don’t follow this way of eating.
You must start putting your health first. Good luck.
Never really ate the extra doughnut etc, always the eatwell plate, 5 a day, with just the occasional treat. This was always considered healthy and the main problem is it still is! Still what my dn says I should be eating
