How many carbs do you eat/prefer?

I eat low carb, but I think the point gets missed with low carb. It's not so much about how many grams of carbs you eat, its about how difficult it is to get your insulin to 'strike the spike'. Limiting your carbs just makes that easier. The more carbs you have the more difficult it is.

    Doesn't make sense?

Hey all, me back again. So I've carried out some Basal testing, and my levels don't waiver more than about 1.5mmol, so is a bit inconclusive. I have managed to get things back on track for a few days (between 5 - 8), and then I'll have a night where I shoot into the teens for no apparent reason...

    Doesn't make sense?

Hi Db89, yes, from what I've read ever I don't eat the same thing every day, but usually 80 carbs/day. My I:C ratio is twice as much in the morning as it is for the rest of the day, so not really sure. Given your questions, what are you thinking in respect of my original post?

    Doesn't make sense?

Hi GrantGam, my insulin regime is 12 units Lantus, and Novorapid 5-7 units for breakfast, 1 - 3 lunch, 4 - 6 evening meal. I eat LCHF. My weight remains constant, and there is no noticeable change in my activity levels.

    Doesn't make sense?

Hi Snapsy. I was diagnosed 3 years ago, but only started MDI 18 months ago. Would it be likely I was still honeymooning?

    Doesn't make sense?

Hi Maria, have you tried the Basal testing? I'm definitely going to give it a go tomorrow, see what it does. Hi Noblehead - so on the basal testing, basically, if it rises over the period then more basal required, if it stays constant then its about right?

    Doesn't make sense?

Hi All, wondered if you could help. My MDI control is reasonably OK, I get 5's - 8's reasonably regularly, but for the last week, it's jumped to 10's and 11's, and no matter how hard I try, I'm struggling to bring it down. I'm not eating any differently, but I'm having to bolus more to correct...

    Type 1s: Bernstein for T1

I love LCHF, I'm 45, and food aside, it makes me feel so much better, like I felt in my 30's! Come on, we all know why it's not recommended by the Medical Profession? It doesn't sell the same quantity of drugs.

    Type 1s: Bernstein for T1

Thanks PinkOrchid, see what you're saying, but thats what I used to say about smoking, some of us will make it to 90 with no issues, and some will not. Surely we have to go for the best scenario we can, which is why I gave up smoking. There are some things Bernstein says which seem to be point...

    Type 1s: Bernstein for T1

Hi All, just wondered what peoples take on Bernstein was. I heard his name and book recommended on this forum many times, so decided to get a copy/watch some of his videos. I have a few questions for those who advocate his approach. - Does anyone really manage to maintain the 'magical' 83? I...

    Morning BG Profile

Hi Both, just wanted to say thanks for the above advice. Took my insulin 20 mins early, and tried my best to calculate the correction, so this morning looked like this: 8:00 8.1 10:00 7.6 11:00 7.3 12:00 7.5 13:00 6.6 Happy Days! Not perfect, but probably a PB as far as morning's go! Will try...

    Morning BG Profile

Thanks Tim, where I am confused is, I actually took additional insulin to correct the 8mmol (or so I thought). I assumed that the additional 1mmol drop between the 4 and 5 hr mark was due to this additional amount of insulin, ie, the correction was happening at the end of its cycle. So from what...

    Morning BG Profile

Hi, not new to the Forum, but new to MDI and posting on the Forum. I have a query, which I guess is pretty basic knowledge, but can’t quite get my head around? I have been testing again this morning to try and work out my profile from breakfast (8:00) to Lunch (13:00). At the 2 hour mark...
