Do you feel hungary when you have high sugar?

An easy way to calculate the difference between UK numbers and US (or European) is to multiply UK numbers by 18, or divide US/European numbers by 18. So your 165 is 9.2 (hooray for a calculator!)

New cravings after weeks of low carb

My doctor told me that if I wanted to drink coke then diet coke wouldn't affect my blood sugar but might make it hard to kick the sugar habit. He advised against it and recommended water or plain soda water with a slice of lemon or lime. So it seems that your cravings could well be connected to...

    metformin

This forum is so great! I have been feeling rotten lately - extremely tired and washed out. Thyroid function checked out fine so now I will have my B12 levels checked and this might be the answer! Oh and I've been taking 500 mg metformin twice daily for 18 months, and, as others have also...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Thanks Callyandy ... I'm still learning about this T2D thing that crept up on me a few months ago ... well more like it hit me over the head like a club! Dawn Phenomenon & Liver Dump are new to me so I'm going on Google to learn more. Thanks again

Thanks for your help. I guess I'm being a bit of a drama queen complaining about these numbers, but I'm still learning! I'll get on to Google about Liver Dump and liver blocks ...

I was wondering abut liver dump myself - I've read about it but don't really know what it is. I'll be seeing my doctor in the next week or so, so I'll ask about it then. Thanks for your suggestion.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

I'm puzzled by my numbers! fasting this morning is 6.3 and has been about that for a couple of weeks. At 3.00 a.m. it was 5.6. During the rest of the day, too it's around 5.0 to 5.6 ... I don't understand why it's higher in the mornings. I know that 6.3 is in the "normal" range, but I'm curious...

I think i might have hypoglycemia

Many years ago I had symptoms exactly like what you describe and after a glucose tolerance test I was told I had "reactive hypoglycaemia" and that in order to help control the symptoms I should "eat like a diabetic" and that there was a risk of developing diabetes later on .... and "later on"...

6 this morning .... like to see it lower than that but seem to have hit a "patch" It's been around 6 for a couple of weeks now. 6 isn't so bad, I realise, but I'd like to keep it in the 5s!! Note to self.. keep an eye on hidden carbs

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Mine was 6.0 this morning- higher than usual but I live in Greece and it's August, so VERY hot and I think this is having an effect on my numbers. Have been following another thread on the forums about how heat can affect our BG and am grateful for the insights I got.

    Type 2 and hypo's

I've just passed my one-year mark since diagnosis and like you I had a BG reading of 22 at diagnosis. I was prescribed Metformin and Januvia and was advised to follow a diet which my doctor gave me. The numbers came down quickly and are staying down but I had some apparent hypos in the early...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

I was diagnosed exactly a year ago and am still finding it a challenge every day to eat well and not push the numbers up. I'm also having to lose weight and that's a second challenge;) Snacks are something else again! Try crunchy celery with a teaspoonful of peanut butter or an ounce of cheese...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Mine was 5.8 this morning - for the past couple of weeks it's been very hot here in Greece and I've noticed my levels are all slightly elevated. I was relieved to read in the Forum somewhere that this is quite common when temperatures go up. Good luck to everyone here, fighting the good fight.
