    Experiences with CGM needed please.

Hi, sorry to hear of your problems. Not sure if things are different in Wales but here if you have hypo unawareness you can get a pump and cgm on the NHS. I have the Medtronic 640G pump with the sensor which is pretty good. Occasionally a blood test is different from the sensor reading but as...

    hello.

I may have missed something here but diabetes is not a disability and there is no way on this earth you should get DLA for it. I say again I may have missed something about a disability but on this list of posts I can only see that "someone has been diagnosed with diabetes". Sounds to me like...

    Insulin pumps

Hi Yingtong, I have a Medtronic Veo with CGM. I think you should check with your diabetes consultant/nurse if they will fund the CGM for you. I have also lost hypo awareness and my CGM is funded. It makes sense for the CGM to be funded as not everyone could afford to self fund and with no...

Medtronic CGM and Pump in one

ah I see then that explains it! I can only have what my hospital uses which is Medtronic so for those of us with Medtronic this is fantastic. news. My place does use another device as well but only Medtronic with a sensor.

    Ready to quit pump use

Not read all the replies but I am on a pump as I have lost my hypo warning signs and with the sensor it is invaluable. Sensor says high or low so I can adjust accordingly. All I could say is consider why you went on the pump initially and decide if you want to return to those problems rather...

Battery fault, do you carry spare batteries?

I have my blood test kit with spare battery in a carry case that I got when I was given the pump initially. Always have spare battery and a 2p coin to open the battery lid.

Medtronic CGM and Pump in one

Engineer88 I assume you do not currently have the Medtronic pump and sensor as I do. If you did you would be jumping up and down at only needing one insertion and only having the insertions on one side of your body. Currently I have 2 insertion devices and 4 items required to carry around with...

    Dupytrens Contractures.....

I have only just seen this thread but would strongly recommend NOT to have radiotherapy for this condition. I had it about 3 years ago in London and my hand is still really dry and a bit painful as a result. It is supposed to stop the condition getting worse but I have more nodules than I did...

    Hypo Alert Monitors.

I had a glucowatch a few years ago but it didn't work for me. I now have a medtronic pump with CGM via a sensor attached to me at all times. It is not perfect as the readings are taken from interstital (sp?) fluid rather than blood but it warns me when my readings drop quickly or reach a level...

    What caused it???

I have no family history of diabetes but got it age 11. I blame having my tonsils removed the year before but I also had glandular fever some time before diagnosis.

    Insulin pump questions?

FAO diva Saw your concerns about a pump which was mostly replied to however I have a medtronic pump and a sensor attached. The sensor is also attached outside the body and does constant checks but of instital fluid rather than blood sugar so not as accurate. Blood tests needed to calibrate it...

    Disability living allowance

I agree 100% with grazer - diabetes should not be regarded as a disabiltiy. It is a horrible to thing to have but to claim money off tax payers is a disgrace unless it is genuinely needed due to a disability which may or may not have been caused by diabetes.

    Paradigm-veo

I have the Paradigm Veo with CGM and it is OK. You have to do fingerprick tests as there is still nothing more accurate than that. You calibrate the sensor twice but ideally 4 times a day. The CGM reading is sadly not as accurate as a finger test so you still need to do them BUT it has a...

How many sites do you rotate?

Hi, DonnellysDogs - How the hell can you attach the cannula in your bum? I was advised to do it in my arm due to problems in my stomach area but I need 2 hands at all times. Do you have very long arms or a good partner?! Always had pain injecting in my thighs so stick to stomach. I now use...

Dawn Phenomenon made simple please ;)

I've not read all the replies so apologies if I am repeating. Not sure about DP but it's important to get basal rates correct as another poster said. I have had zero carb meals eg bacon and egg/salad as appropriate and checked BG (or BM! - I have been diabetic since 1975 and I believe it is BM...

    Contour Link test machine

I have had similar problems in the past and discussed with Medtronic/Bayer/DSN - advice was to ensure fingers washed with warm water (guilty of not doing that previously) and to get a big enough drop of blood so that you don't need to pump the finger to get blood. Since I have been doing both of...

If you have complications - do you blame yourself?

Without wishing to sound harsh, if you don't control your diabetes/blood sugar then YES it is your fault if you get complications. We all know that high blood sugars cause complications so as far as I am concerned we are all responsible (or our parents/guardians if you are a child) for...

    Medtronic Veo and Quickset problems

Has anyone had trouble with bent cannulas using the quick set? I have had a few "No Delivery" errors recently and when changed Set the cannula has been at 90 degrees. I rang Medtronic and they said if you are slim they can be caused by hitting muscle but I am no way slim! It can also be caused...

    CGMs & Pumps

I have a Medtronic Veo pump and sensor and yes they do link to each other via bluetooth. If you have certain medical needs they are provided free by your local health trust (in Wales anyway) and as I have lost my hypo awareness I get everthing involved free - including bateries. I have a...
