21years old and diagnosed with diabetes

Hey girl!! I too was diagnosed with diabetes the day before my 21st birthday! They didn't know whether mine was T1 or T2 but, after 4 months I was found to be T1. I lost 2 stone in those 4 months which suuucked! I also had high cholesterol at time of diagnosis, my GP tried to put me on statins...

Should I ask to switch back to old insulin?

Just a little update again! I've got a letter come through from hospital and appointment is in 5 weeks! Eugh! So definitely going to be following your guys advice and bugging my GP to try and get my old insulin back for the time being! Thanks for all your suggestions!

Should I ask to switch back to old insulin?

Appointment has actually been cancelled twice now, haven't been to the hospital since end of April! @Daibell I was switched to Abasaglar due to budget cuts. So maybe, it has something to with costs why I wasn't popped onto Levemir! @donnellysdogs DSN is who I was due to see today but, half...

Should I ask to switch back to old insulin?

My Drs are an absolute nightmare to get into etc. phone call screening, wait til end of day for phone call back to judge when you need an appointment, then go in when they finally book you one! I wouldn't call it an "emergency" at all either, I'm doing well just a little off, I just hate...

Should I ask to switch back to old insulin?

I'd love to say it went great and they put me back on Lantus but... my appointment got cancelled half an hour before again! ;) Not sure if this is something the GP would be happy to swap back for me? Or if I should wait out another appointment in the mail again?!

Should I ask to switch back to old insulin?

Bit of a back story... around 2 months ago I switched from Lantus to Abasaglar (basal), within 3 days I was in A&E completely disorientated, dizzy spells, waking up at like 3am to blacking out etc. my heart rate was erratic, all over the place, I couldn't really make sense of anything but, they...

    BF 'forgets' I am diabetic

I feel for you, lovely, it must suck to feel that way! If I was you, I'd definitely try and pop on some shows which feature some extreme emergencies to do with diabetes to raise the conversation. Every time me & my oh sit down and a diabetic emergency pops on the tv it always evolves into a...

    Diabetes and Cramp

I got diagnosed 2 years ago now (at age 21), but, around a month before diagnosis I had the worst leg cramps of my life. I'll never forget on one occasion I woke up at 3AM screaming in agony because of a calf cramp in my right leg, I couldn't physically walk for 2 days because my muscles hurt so...

Is it possible to still be in "honeymoon" 2 years on?! Unexplained hypos.

I'll definitely take it on board, it was the DSN idea to switch me to the abasaglar due to budget cuts so maybe she'll decide to pop it back on my prescription. I've been dairy free before for a few months earlier (only because of bloat issues!) this year and never had anything like this, so...

Is it possible to still be in "honeymoon" 2 years on?! Unexplained hypos.

I don't even know why I haven't contacted her yet if I'm being completely honest! Diabetes is definitely one of those things I try so hard to control myself! Thanks for all your help guys, just didn't want to bug her and get faced with the whole "honey moon period" again!

Is it possible to still be in "honeymoon" 2 years on?! Unexplained hypos.

I don't drink alcohol at all, weight still the same, diet hasn't changed apart from going dairy free over the past 2 weeks, and I haven't increased exercise! Didn't think it would be the dairy. I changed from Lantus to Abasaglar around 3 weeks ago due to nhs cuts but, didn't have any change in...

Is it possible to still be in "honeymoon" 2 years on?! Unexplained hypos.

Apologies if this is the wrong place, anyone's more than welcome to move this post to where it's supposed to be.. :D I was diagnosed back in May 2015 with Type 1 diabetes, at age 21. Everything fine, carb counting, HbA1c going well, DSN very happy lady. In the early days I had a few spells of...

Type 1 IA2/GAD/ZN8, what do they mean?!

So just over 2 years ago I was diagnosed with late onset type 1 diabetes. (Never posted on this site so hopefully i can ask here!) My HbA1C is currently 59 (highest it's ever been, my fault entirely for not being 100% with testing and such!) What I'm confused about is the IA2 / GAD, I know...
